This review is for BOXI Trunk Struts for a 2005 BMW 330ci ConvertibleThis is my 2nd pair of BOXI struts. I replaced my HOOD struts with BOXIs 2 years ago & they still lift my hood like they're BRAND NEW. Some reviewers & YouTubers recommend the Stabilus struts. Those are 50 bucks. And the BOXIs are 17 bucks. I went with the BOXIs despite the bad reviews here because my BOXI hood struts are GREAT QUALITY.Some of the other reviewers here are CORRECT about the FORCE OF THE LIFT. When these reach the top of the lift, the trunk will bounce a little bit. These are definitely LOADED FOR BEAR. I wasn't crazy about this either at first & was going to deduct ONE STAR like another reviewer here did. But, at least I know they're NOT going to FAIL in 6 months, so I decided not to. And you can guide the lift with your hand to keep this from happening if it bothers you. Your trunk is not going fall off. LOL. It's not a big deal or a deal breaker IMO. It might even be an advantage in the long run. They are BUILT TO LAST.Another reviewer complained about the BOXIs making his trunk close after he hit the trunk release. This DID NOT happen to me.DIY NOTE: The hardest part of replacing struts is removing the old OEM struts. Popping the clips on the ball joints is tricky. I forgot how to get them off. I recommend going to YouTube & typing "how to remove bmw trunk struts." There are plenty of videos to help you with this. I clicked on the first one. Mission accomplished.This is a GREAT PRICE for QUALITY struts. Thanx again, BOXI.5 STARS

And make it easier to close!

Surprisingly, these worked better than I expected. In fact, they were "stronger" than the OEM ones I replaced. Of course, one of the OEM ones has failed me, but these new ones actually spring the trunk open forcefully.. a little too hard, in my opinion; thus the 4-star rating.(FYI, I was still able to manually compress the "still good" OEM against the ground using my hands, however I was not able to compress the new strut...)Not sure why I saw negative/bad reviews for this particular set of trunk lift supports being too weak or not holding up the trunk or having the trunk re-latch after opening, as my experience was the complete opposite.The car I used these on is in the title. If you are curious as to how much wear and tear the OEM struts had to endure, the car has about 80,000 miles on it as of 04/26/18.

The trunk support works fine but, when opening the trunk door, it flips hard and shakes the car and bounces the trunk door from its hinges as well. Because it's a very hard shock that it broke the snap-on attachment part by it's own forced performance. The specifications may not be up to the original standards. I think that the trunk should be closed and opened at ease. Closing part works fine, it supports the weight of the trunk door so that it doesn't fall hard yet it opens hard.

Reasonably priced and easy to install.

They look good but, I made a big mistake at ordering this instead of hood shocks/lift supports!

These were perfect for my 325CI, I don't feel like I have to open the trunk with a 4 foot long lever anymore ;).A fraction of the cost of the OEM, and they work just as well.

Order was handled quickly a delivered on time.Install was easy.Quite happy.
