I love Sophie Ang. She's a great character.
Sophie has three men pursuing her romantically, but all of them have fatal flaws. She recognizes Conner and Jake's issues, but for some strange reason she seems blissfully unaware that Alika is the worst of the three. The other two want to support what she's doing and they deeply respect her intelligence and abilities, but I never get any sense of that from Alika.I wish I shared Toby Neal's infatuation with Alika, but I don't. I respect and admire many of the things he has done in his life, but I don't like his controlling attitude toward Sophie. It bothered me when he called her out of the blue and she was in the middle of a violent jail riot with shots being fired around her, he asked if she was okay. When he got at best a tentative response from her, he thought she seemed distracted and that the situation might interfere with his plans. How dare she be distracted by dodging bullets and didn't give him her full attention?Control equals abuse. Control is not love. When Sophie told Alika goodbye, that it was over, he went into stalker mode. He egotistically decided he was a martial arts expert and he could handle anything she could. I guess he learned different, the hard way. Buying an engagement ring for a woman who has walked away from you and then going to her father and manipulating him emotionally knowing he's bound to be worried about his daughter's career -- that's stalker behavior. Sure, he paid dearly for stalking her, but I can't bring myself to be sympathetic to someone who was in the wrong place at the wrong time because his manipulations got him there.Toby Neal is a social worker/therapist. If she is not aware that Alika's behavior raises one red flag after another, she needs to figure it out. Control is abuse; it is not love. I've had the same issue with other male characters in Toby Neal's books so this isn't a one-off.

I love Sophie and the adventures she finds herself in
Where to even begin?! I love Sophie and the adventures she finds herself in. But my heart breaks every time I think of the isolated life she led. Sometimes I just want to grab a hold of Sophie and just hug her long and hard. Sure she had her dad and her computers but she only longed for one thing and that was the love of her mother. But she gets the raw end of the deal with that as the only thing she gets from her mother is her overwhelming bouts of deep depression. We get a better look into Sophie’s life as she led it and why she’s so socially awkward yet strong and fiercely independent. Now her heart is another matter. Sophie has such a big open heart full of love to give which she gives freely to her lovable lab Ginger. Having three guys yearning for her attention, I believe she’s slowly figuring it out what it means to be truly loved by another person and I can’t wait until she finds the one to hold her heart but most of all heal her soul. I look forward to following Sophie along on her many journeys as it seems trouble isn’t far from finding her either.

Audio please
I would have given it 5 stars if it had been an audio book. It is difficult for me to read and I prefer audio books that I can listen to while driving or performing other tasks. I started the series in an audio format and now, half way through the books they are no longer available in the audio format.

Heartfelt and Riveting
Like the travel to different islands and the different kinds of cases band situations that Sophie is enmeshed in. Really good intrigue - and romance!

But im spending a fortune reading them. $5 per book and I read 1 per day…. Have kindle unlimited but not included. Good reads but I could get best sellers for less.

I recommend this series
There isn't a Toby Neal book that I've read that I didn't like. And I like the character of Sophie Ang and the Paradise Crime Series, but this was not one of my favorites and neither was the last one. For some reason, I'm not a big fan of the multiple-POV contrivance of these two novels and I can't explain why. Nor am I enamored of the more romantic bent these two books have taken. I know Sophie is conflicted but too much time is being devoted to her dilemma of which man is the one for her, if any. I don't know, maybe this says more about me than her. Will I stop reading this series? No way. I have too much invested in Sophie and I'm curious where this will go. And, for the record, I'm rooting for Connor!

I got it for free and evenso feel cheated
This i sso disjointed and poorly written. Anyone reviewing this as "good" clearly needs to read a proper thriller. The book is mostly filled with the heros feelings about the 3 men in her life - that's 50% of the book covered. The crux of the matter with WITSEC etc is dealt with in 4 or 5 pages and the rest of the book is leading up to the next book in teh series (which I will not waste my time on)Overall I believed this to be a complete waste of time

At times, very dark.
Carrying straight on from Wired Justice and we see Sophie struggling with her depression and being torn between two men. A difficult time for her and the fact she is going to be testifying in the Chang case. She gets into the WITSEC protection along with Rosie but their is a leak! She goes dark in more senses of the word and she is in a difficult place.Enjoyable and reliable writing again from Tony Neal.

Excellent read
Wow, another fantastic book from the Paradise Crime series. I love Sophie, and all she has been through, and achieved, Sophie is still trying to find her place in the world, and I'm excited to see where that place will be, and which of her admirers she will eventually decide upon. Looking forward to book 8.

Patchy Story
Not the best book in the series. Thought the storyline was not the strongest. Problem is read this out of sequence.
