I am a tutor and I must say that I am pleased with my purchase of the GRE Prime 2017 Graduate Record Exam by the Argo Brothers. The book is very detailed and informative to the reader, as well as to teachers and tutors. My students are pleased with the 800+ mini videos and the free live support. In chapter 14, the math primer walks you through key concepts in arithmetic. It is explained thoroughly to its reader and provides step by step instructions that is needed to solve the problem. I will recommend the GRE Prime 2017 to students and also tutors who are preparing their students.

Useful, but very much flawed.
The book is useful. There's no doubt in my mind that reading through this book and doing the practice exams will help you get a higher score on the GRE. That said, there are a lot of typos and errors. The errors are smaller such as writing "and" when you would expect "an." The errors are more serious and can result in a lot of confusion. For example, in Practice test 3, quantitative reasoning section 5, question 13:The answer in the answer key is C 34. The answer is actually E.The question describes a trapezoid, and asks you to find the length of one of the bases. It describes the opposite base as having a length of 32 and the length of the line connecting the midpoint of the legs as 36. How could the other base possibly have a length of 34? Then the length of the line connecting the midpoints has the longest length of the three. The answer should have told you to solve for the other base by doing ((32^2) + x^2)/2 = 36^2. Instead it tells you to average the base and the length of the midpoint line. There are also other weird instances such as Problem 11 of practice test 3, quantitative reasoning section 3. It describes a line R for most of the problem, but then says there is a point (3,-10) on line x. Line x is described nowhere else in the problem. It's clearly not the x intercept because the y value is -10. I guessed that it meant to say line R, and I was correct. If you do end up buying this book and are confused by seemingly incorrect or incomplete explanations in the quantitative sections, I would dig a little deeper. There's a decent chance you're right and the problem is wrong. If you want a book without errors in the practice tests, I would look elsewhere.

I am happy to say we will be adding this book to ...
I have been teaching the GRE exam for about 6 years. We have been using Manhattan Prep as the main book for Quantitative portion of the exam and Barron’s for the Verbal part. After looking through this book, I am happy to say we will be adding this book to our curriculum mainly because of the resources offered. It’s a good guide for students just starting to prepare but the questions are not as challenging compared to Barron’s. The verbal section is strong but the math portion can use more challenging questions. That being said,• Manual has a nice overview about the GRE Exam - structure and specifics. Information provided in this book is not new but it presented in a structured and understandable way.• This book provides 2 more exams compared to other companies that gives an extra practice for students, which is crucial in preparation.• Answer explanations are good, but not comprehensive. Unlike Kaplan, they do not offer a fully detailed answer explanation, but rather give you a very direct answer explanation. Although that is a con, they do offer the free live support feature where they answer your questions by video in detail. As past reviewers have probably mentioned, this is the resource that makes this book shine because you are getting every penny and more. Do yourself a favor and use their free support service.

OK GRE Guide for the price, but some flaws
Bought this based on the positive reviews and the fact that this was one of the few books available on the new GRE when I started thinking about taking the GRE last year. The book isn't bad and was one of the better options available at the time at a reasonable price point. However, I believe that more books are available and if I was to purchase a GRE book now I might choose a different aid.I wanted a book that had diagnostic tests and then study materials related to it so that I could identify the areas I needed to brush up on. However, I didn't find this book presented that well as the questions weren't directly related to study material and it was hard to identify what material I should study and what I didn't need to based solely on the diagnostic test. I ended up skimmed through all of the study material and simply focusing on material that seemed foreign, so the diagnostic test wasn't ideal. I also found the questions the book were significantly easier than real GRE question as I always finished the math section on the book with 10 minutes to spare, but needed all the time on the real exam. As other reviews mentioned there were some typos, but that's par for the course with study books like this. Additionally, the online tests promised did not work. The link given in the book simply redirects you to the home page for the manufacturer so don't expect to be able to use the online tests. However, it wasn't all bad. The study material provided was decent and helped prepare me, even if it was difficult to focus on what I needed. The background information on the GRE and the test format was super useful. The solutions provided for the problems were good and helped me understand how to do problems like them in the future. All in all, this book may not be ideal, but I do think it helped me study. It has some flaws, but many of these books do. Do be warned that the questions provided don't seem to be as difficult as the real thing, so also do one of the free tests provided by the ETS to supplement. The price is peanuts compared to the cost of taking the GRE test, so if it helps improve your score and keeps you from having to take it again, it has more than paid for itself. Definitely can be used as a good study aid if paired with free tests from other sources online.
