Board Game Classics (Chess, Checkers, Backgammon)

I got this primarily for the backgammon feature. However, I cannot get the doubling feature to work on the DS (it does have a game boy advance cartridge slot). The right button works on other games but not this one. Without doubling, backgammon is no fun.

This game taught me how to play Backgammon. All three of the games are fun and it's nice to be able to customize the way the computer plays. Chess and checkers have pretty typical AI, but the backgammon AI is pretty predictable once you figure out the computers programmed playing method. It's really only fun on the hardest level, but it routinely seems like the computer gets a lot more desirable rolls than you do.

Great quick chess game

I bought this game for Backgammon because I remember I used to love playing it when I was younger. My kids like Checkers and my husband likes Chess. I thought the price was good for three games.

My sons (aged 6 and 8) play the chess game as much as they play any of their other GameBoy games. Both learned to play chess on a physical board prior to using the virtual version. The chess pieces actually battle each other, which seems to delight them. My husband, a rated chess player, says this version will keep them challenged for awhile.More recently, both boys have been playing checkers, too, and they have asked me to teach them backgammon so they can play the GBA version. I highly recommend this chess/checkers/backgammon combo because it's a great value.
