Human Behavior and the Social Environment: Social Systems Theory (Connecting Core Competencies)

Poorly written with outdated models and data.
This textbook makes my class in community and organizations hellish and a painful experience. The text is dense and not useful. I am unclear why this part of the field seems to be littered with textbooks that are poorly written and poorly thought out. The field of social work deserves better then these text books have given us. I know that many of you who have to buy this text for a class to teach them about organizational theory and practice. In brief I hope your teacher uses off text sources because this text book does not cut it. This is from a 1st year grad student who is seeking a Master's of Social Work who already has a MS in Education.Teaching means making things accessible and easy not working to make information harder and more confused. The basic problem with the text book is that it tells us the history of the field when it should be just teaching us best practices. If you signed up to take a history of the scholarly exploration of the social organization then it's a great book. Other wise - All hope abandon ye who enter here.

Book for school in ok condition
This book came in ok condition and was definitely usable. There was just some mysterious brown stuff at the top of the first few pages that I was able to cut off.
