Mechanical music box, directions are not really clear so make sure to read carefully. Some pieces you have to make two of. But precision is a factor and after a while, it will be really hard to take apart to correct. All in all, I had a good time putting this together and enjoy it. Delicate piece for sure. Love it.

a bunch of small pieces so be careful. you may need some basic tools to put this together. it comes with 'tools' to help you put it together but they are not very strong or sturdy. not saying they were junk, but it was easier for me to use actual small tools to assemble. the finished project looks very nice and works well. i will probably buy more sets in the future. they were fun to build.

I love this! This was my second ROKR build. Directions were easy to follow and the finished product works exactly how it should. Absolutely would recommend for all skill levels.

Works great, instructions are easy to read. Some pieces can be broken pretty easily if you apply too much force but it’s mainly a few tiny pieces. Otherwise this a really good buy

Beautiful little piece still in process of assembling. I would assess it at medium difficulty. Measurements must be accurate in order for the gears to function appropriately. Care needs to be taken in assembly so that weaker pieces are not broken.

I do a lot of crafts. I crochet gigantic mandala afghans that take a few months, I do mandala dot painting on albums that take about 8 hours, and I do diamond painting. This craft really intrigued me, and I was certain I could master it. I thought the pieces were sturdy, and I think I only broke 2 pieces (they were pieces that go on a curve so they were very thin and accordion-like). It was no big deal, I just glued them. My main beef is the metal rods that the planets go on. The planets are beads with a hole running through the middle. Problem is, the holes are bigger than the metal rods so they give you some really crappy double-sided tape that you’re supposed to wrap around the rod, adding to the diameter of the rod so the bead doesn’t fall off. Let’s assume you’re lucky enough to get the tape wrapped around this 2mm rod. When you go to push the bead onto it, now the diameter is too much and all the sticky tape comes smushing out the bottom. I ended up using Super Glue. When they say this kit is for 14 years old and up, they mean really really up. It was a challenge. It took me about 9-10 hours and a nerve pill. When I finally finished, I couldn’t wait to wind up the music box. The key that you turn to wind it is recessed up in a hole in the bottom of the box. I had to use pliers to wind it because you can barely get your fingers into the hole. And that’s when I discovered that mine must be broken - I can only turn the key maybe 2-3 revolutions so the music only plays for about 10 seconds. Finally, this music box plays Memories. Why, I don’t know. There were so many other songs that would have been better. Someone suggested Starry, Starry Night or Moon River or Fly Me To The Moon. Memories doesn’t really match up with this particular planet theme. Whatever. I still love it. It’s really cute. I’d definitely buy another puzzle from this company so long as it doesn't come with double-sided sticky tape.

I really enjoyed building this. The wood is fragile so be careful when removing from the stencil.

Yes, the pieces are small. You have to have patience and a gentle, yet firm touch. I really had a lot of fun putting this together. It took some wiggling and prodding and extra wax on everything but I eventually got it to work. When I got frustrated or my fingers started hurting from squeezing the pieces together I just stopped for the day. It wasn't a race. I do not think this is suitable for anyone under 12 as you really do need patience, ability to follow instructions PRECISELY, and some ability to think through challenges (the gears kept getting stuck on mine and I had to pull parts of it off more than once to try to see what the issue was - more wax, better alignment, etc.). I was pleased with myself when it was completed - it only took a few days, working at it for a bit at a time - and it has a place of honour on my desk.
