A few steps to get it set up. It is not plug and go. You do have to follow the set up with the sd card. You do have to have an SD card. Not included. This how you record & store the video. It does not transfer the data through the usb cords or over wifi. It is through the SD card. The images are not camera phone quality. But they are good. And the camera is very discrete and barely noticeable. It is good value.

First, the product does NOT include a memory card, so be aware of that. Second, the way that you have to set it up is quite convoluted, as you have to edit a text file with the current date, and save it to the memory device before using it, but there is no explanation as to why or if you have to update the time value after you unplug it (to get the files from the memory card). There is also no way to get the video files off the device via the USB port on the front (at least this is not in the instructions), so you have to unplug it and remove the memory card from the back and then walk that to a computer to look at the video files. I tried using the motion detect mode, and the video recorded is super short and awful, with my Windows computer complaining that it can't read most of the files. Overall, this thing is just total junk; waste of money.

So I needed a little security camera and this seemed to fit the bill. first off, to set your mind at ease, the camera lens looks REALLY OBVIOUS in the online product photos, but in real life it is barely noticeable, If you had this plugged in on a cluttered countertop or desk you would NEVER notice it. I only used it in motion capture mode and it does really good, quality of video (AVI Format) was also surprisingly good. I was worried that in motion mode there would be no way to know when the videos were taken but the easy to follow directions explain how to set the time before pugging it in and then each clip has a time stamp, there is an LED on the back that is always illuminated (even with the stickers applied to cover the SD card) but that would be easy to cover with a tiny piece of tape, honestly I didn't notice it while in operation, even in a dark room. Overall it works surprisingly good at a decent price.

This is a good buy nice to have it covered the entire area i wanted with a clear video play back. The only reason I give it 4 stars is it would be nice if someway it could have had audio as well. But in all easy to set and the camera is very well hidden I had several people try and find it and were unsuccessful.

The media could not be loaded.  The best thing about this camera is that you forget that it is even there, and if well positioned, will give you a good view of the room or area that you want to monitor. It comes with a lot of options that makes it easy to copy and review captured videos like the USB to USB cable that you can connect from the charging block to your PC or the USB adapter that you can stick the microSD card into, and you can also pop the microSD card into your phone (make sure to format the microSD card on your phone first before you perform the initial PC setup and start recording. You also need a video player that plays .avi formats e.g. VLC media player). It functions as a normal charger and even records while charging your phone (of course there will be a slight obstruction seen in the bottom of the video where the charging cable plugs into the camera.) You can plug it into the power outlet in any orientation, but may need to rotate the video afterwards. The microSD card pops in and sits flush within the camera (to remove, push it in further and it'll pop out a little), but is slightly protruded when using the USB adapter.The video quality is crisp and clear, the colors are vivid, and recording continues for about 1 or 2 seconds after unplugging the camera. I used the motion detector function only, and a full day's recording barely made an impact on my storage (128GB microSD card); of course, this will vary based on the level of activity within the range of video capture.Was this is a good buy? YES! Will I guy it again? YES!NOTES:- It will not record when you are copying or reviewing files- You cannot view the videos on your phone when you connect the USB cable to the phone (charging or not); the phone should not have sufficient power to make this work.- There is no sound in the recordings (this was never advertised to record sounds)

Arrived super quick thanks to Amazon Prime! The camera quality is grainy, but still exceptionally visible and it’s clear to tell what’s going on in the videos. The motion detection doesn’t work at all and just records every 5 minutes for 5 minutes. I’m assuming the functions were mislabeled because that’s more of a loop function. Still, for $30 you CANNOT beat this camera. It’s great and super discrete. I only plug it in when I’m out of my apartment to avoid it overheating/crapping out. Works just fine until you try to use the USB function and plug something in to charge. I noticed that the camera will NOT record if you plug anything in (even the cables provided with the camera).I do not recommend using the Micro SD USB reader that is shipped with the camera. My computer wouldn’t let me play off the USB, but I purchased a standard micro SD card reader and had zero issues watching the clips from my laptop. You do have to buy a micro SD card separately, but all in I spent less than $60 on the SD card and reader and this hidden camera.*update: ZERO motion detecting function. Does not work on either mode*

Quality camera that is easy to setup. Great connectivity and speed. Looking forward to using it more.

After several months of using this, I'm editing my previous review. While the picture quality is clear, I keep the camera set on motion detect but it records all the time. Everything is recorded in for minute intervals. So I have 75 4 minute videos to watch every morning from the night that are all black. It is really frustrating.
