The only issue is skill!
OK, so my reaction to this stuff was a bit of a roller-coaster. > I get the vinyl. I look at it. First impression is that the color was WAY lighter than I thought and the pattern is kind of pixelated. At this point, my heart is sinking. Add to that the label "permanent adhesive" (I need to be able to remove it from my rental counter) and I'm already feeling like I made a mistake. > The next day, I'm kind of reconsidering. The color is actually very accurate to the pictures; it's my memory of the images that's faulty (I imagined that the detail was closer to black. No, it's light to mid gray at the darkest.) Also, yeah, so some of the pattern is pixelated, but y'know what? I can't tell unless my face is within 10" of the countertop. Also, I do some research, people seem to say this is removable, ok. It's ok. Everything's ok. > I start thinking about applying it. My countertops are kind of bumpy/textured, and I can't do anything about that. Wow, now I'm worried that it won't stick super well. > I start applying it. Start small, pieces on the sides of the sink area. Hey, it actually sticks pretty well. I'm not having many issues with bubbling. I'm just smoothing it by hand (I am fairly meticulous). I definitely recommend only peeling back an inch or two of the backing to start, and then peeling more and more as you stick it down. That seemed to work well. (I had a bit of bubbling near part of the hard angle I folded the paper over. No problem; poke it with a needle, squeeze some air out, apply some light heat via blow-dryer, looks great). And it handled the textured counter pretty well! Obviously some bumps and flaws from the OG counter are gonna come through, but it still looks way better. > I'm scared to start the big section of the sink. I finally convince myself to at least cut the piece. An inch or two of extra this time just in case. I unroll the rest of the roll, and I'm seeing ridges in the vinyl, lines where it's bubbling off the backing. Oh no, I think, I'm going to have massive bubbles or creases in my countertop > I apply the big section. It's not fast or "easy" but nothing nasty happens. The ridges? Probably just because it's meant to be flat against the backing when rolled up, not when spread out. Those disappeared without giving me any problem. I didn't have any issue with this stuff accidentally ripping on me, or anything. It didn't feel thin or flimsy. It's sticky, but not too sticky. So the end result?? I was really pleased with this stuff. Assuming it peels off well when I leave this rental place, this countertop vinyl thoroughly redeemed itself from all my "oh no!" moments. Problems you may have: - If you crease it, that crease is pretty likely to show up as a little ridge - it's hard to cut the edges well. I don't mean the product is hard to cut (though you'll want a sharp box knife or something); it's just hard to cut it well. Don't expect your cutting job to look gorgeous (alas). - one piece I placed (the earliest) I didn't cut much buffer space, and combined with a bit of mismeasurement/non-square counter width, I left myself a bit of a gap - I had more bubbling and creases when I tried to peel back a big corner of it and stick it back down to get rid of bigger bubbles. Probably better to just do it right the first time... (imagine that). But it was pretty easy to peel up and re-stick!

Wow!! Love this stuff!!
We have a small countertop in our hallway that desperately needed some updating. The black granite was in great condition but just very dark. Marble slabs are expensive (I was quoted $300 without installation) and I wasn’t even sure if that was the look I wanted. This contact paper is a great price, relatively easy to install, and I think it looks great! It allows me to see what real marble might look like, and in the meantime it does a great job covering up the black. Installation: the roll wasn’t quite wide enough to be able to use one piece lengthwise, so I had to cut it into strips. I started with the back left corner and lined it up with the wall and the side, and then worked my way towards the front edge. Since the pieces were pretty small I found it easier to get it about 1/4 of the way pressed onto the countertop and then I just pulled off the rest of the lining and smoothed it out the best I could. It was easy to pull up and adjust as needed. I used a spatula with a soft plastic edge to press the bubbles out as much as possible, but there were still bubbles left. I had read that some users had luck with a hair dryer so I gave that a whirl but it didn’t work very well for me. Maybe I was doing it wrong? Who knows. In any case, what I found worked best for those pesky air bubbles I couldn’t press out was to poke a tiny hole in them with a needle and then press the air out that way. It left only very tiny pinpricks that I don’t think are noticeable at all. I struggled with the rounded corner and still am not happy with how that turned out. But, I have enough left over that I might pull that end piece up and try something else to make it smoother. The end result is fantastic!! I think it looks great. It’s thick and feels like it will hold up well. The slight gloss makes it look like an actual countertop. Husband was shocked when he got home. Highly recommend!!

Tough to install perfectly but overall effect is stunning
I purchased this contact paper because I bought an older house with very ugly laminate countertops that do not go with aesthetic at all, but I'm a couple years away from a full kitchen renovation. This peel-and-stick marble gives exactly the effect I ultimately want to achieve with my full renovation. I will say that they were NOT easy to install. I watched a bunch of youtube videos and bought all the items they recommended (exacto knife is CRITICAL, staple gun for under the countertop, multiple sizes and styles of spatula to smooth, caulk for around the sink, etc) and it was still pretty tough. I have definite imperfections (a couple creases, not as clean edges as I'd like in some places, tricky curves by the sink, etc) that I probably will fix at some point by pulling up pieces and replacing them. But that's the thing--you can do that with the peel and stick! And the overall effect is stunning so individual imperfections don't stand out at all. They seem very easy to clean as well, but I'm the type to wipe down my kitchen right away and clean as I go. If you let messes sit, I'd be worried they may stain a bit, but I don't know that for sure. I saw in a Youtube video that tomato-based products are most likely to stain this brand of contact paper. They seem sufficiently waterproof. All in all, I highly recommend this product if you're like me--you hate your current countertops but aren't ready for a full-blown countertop replacement. However if you're looking at this product as more of a permanent solution, DO NOT expect perfection. You'll be disappointed.

Easy to Use, But Take Caution!
We just purchased a home and have plans to redo our countertops, but at a later time. There's a small 25x27in. space in our laundry room that was left completely counter-less by the previous owner. As a temporary fix so it didn't look so ghastly, I purchased a 25x25in. plank of wood, and used this adhesive marble for the countertop surface. It was actually really easy to apply. I assumed, given my impatience, I would have all sorts of bubbles. But the material is thick, and if you apply it like the video displays, it is very easy to smooth out your surface. The only issue I had was making the corners tight. I assumed, since the material I was working with was wood, that it wouldn't stick as easily, and it really didn't. The adhesive around the corners just didn't stick. Now, if you were applying it to an actual countertop, you probably would have gotten better results. So, just know what materials you are using, be patient with the paper and be realistic about what your results will be. If you're using this instead of installing new countertops, then yeah.. it's not going to look like the real thing 100%. BUT, the product did work as I intended and as a temporary countertop while we wait for the real thing, I am very satisfied.

Great
I tried this brand and another brand and this one is way easier and higher quality! A lot easier to work with since it’s a little thicker ! Great way to update outdated interiors!

Beautiful cheaper option for countertops
I was redoing my kitchen and needed to figure out what to do about my countertops since it wasn’t in the budget to replace them. I had looked at some of the countertop paint kits but the ones with the highest reviews had about a two week cure time which isn’t overly practical for a kitchen. They also required you to have some form of painting skill to make it look nice, which I don’t so I found this paper. I love the difference it has made. I will say this is either a two somewhat competent person job or a one skilled person job - I had to have my friend’s husband put it on. But it did stick to the top of the counters well. The underside of my counter is a faux wooden board (the material they used to put on the back of toyboxs in the 90’s) and the paper would not stick to that at all. We used gorilla tape which you can’t see and has held it down but I will also be stapling the underside to make sure that it doesn’t come up. I have cooked two meals in there so far and it has cleaned up really well. I decided I am going to use a kitchen caulk around the sink just to make sure it stays down. I will say from far away you can’t tell it’s contact paper but once you get up close to it you can see the panels. I don’t mind but if that is something you are trying to avoid. If the papers starts coming up I will update this review.

Only good for very simple projects
If your project, or area of counter that you're attempting to cover, is something simple, ie. flat surface with no curved edges, no sink, nothing to cut around etc. - then you'll probably be fine with this product. Anything more complex, like having an actual vanity involved, I wouldn't recommend this. It is thicker, which is a positive in some respects. But bc of that it is hard to maneuver around things. I will also say that I followed the inch marks on the backing, but they were deceptive and it ended up an inch less then I thought it was going to be. In the end it didn't matter bc I gave up, and through it away anyway.

Wow! Easy countertop makeover!
Got this for my bathroom counter and it’s holding up amazingly well. Very cheap option to update your bathroom in a hurry and it looks amazing! I’ve had lots of compliments so far. If you use caulk around your sink and backsplash it gives it a nice finished look. It’s holding up well after a few months of frequent use, I would recommend and I would definitely use again.

Great product, actually looks amazing, even up close
This did exactly what I needed it to do. Our old countertop was dated, and this brightened everything up! I made sure to remove my sink before applying the contact paper and that made it much easier to apply! Cleanup is easy, I wipe it down daily with a microfibre cloth and some spray cleaner and there’s been no damage at all.

USE THE WET METHOD TO APPLY!!
I purchased this contact paper before to cover my ugly kitchen countertops. It is a really great product, highly recommended. But it was very time consuming and kind of hard to install without 1000 bubbles being left behind. Then I saw a video of applying contact paper to countertops using water and a spray bottle. GAME CHANGER!! So much easier, and leave amazing smooth results. Basically just fill a spray bottle with water, add 1 drop of dish soap. Spray counter just before applying contact paper. The water allows you to readjust and align the paper without it sticking to the surface. Once you have it where you want it you use a smoothing tool to essentially squeegee out the water and adhere the paper to the counter. Honestly the best and easiest way to apply!

GET A SQUEEGEE APPLICATOR SET!
First time ever applying contact paper, you NEED a squeegee set for an easy application on kitchen countertops. Mine came with a large, medium (good for edges and backsplash) and tiny small one (good for corners and hard to reach areas). It also came with a super sharp precision knife that made all the difference cutting around the sink. I had less than 5 bubbles on my first roll but had more on the second, not sure why there was a difference between rolls. If you get any bubbles just pop them with the knife and smooth it out, good as new. Go slowly and take your time - it’s actually really easy with the right tools! No water or soapy solutions needed. Love the difference it made in my kitchen upgrade!
