We just assembled this media stand. It's beautiful!The stand:• Appearance is exactly as expected per the photos. I also used SimpliHome website for additional information in making my decision.• Solid wood, no mdf, no paper board!• Dark Wood is a deep, warm tone and is extremely versatile. I debated getting the black, but glad I chose the Dark Wood color as it pairs nicely with lighter or darker woods.• Solidly constructed once assembled (no wiggles or wobbles).• Will hold plenty of stuff. Open shelves and those inside door sections are optional, so lots of possibilities for storage and/or accessorizing.Packaging and Assembly:• Securely packaged• All pieces were marked appropriately.• Hardware was separated by type and labeled.• Apart from a couple of instructions containing incorrect pieces, the unit was easy to assemble. Just use common sense!• Helps to have 2 people, but can be assembled by a patient individual.• Doors looked slightly uneven (couple of millimeters) from back of unit, but cannot tell from the front of the unit.• It helped us to separate door hinge mounting plate from the hinge cup. Mount the mounting plate to the unit, then attach door (with hinge cup attached) to unit using the adjustable slider and screw.• There were no predrilled holes on the unit for placing the back pieces (which were predrilled) on the unit. This wasn’t a problem for assembly since the pine is soft enough to screw into, just slightly confusing as all other holes were predrilled.Overall impression:SimpliHome is definitely a top candidate for future assembled furniture purchases! Shipped via UPS and was packed very well for transit. Multiple levels of reinforcement in the box. Arrived undamaged. All parts were there with spares and an entire bag of additional spares.Quick and easy to build. If you have any experience putting your own furniture together this will be a breeze. I have no idea what the other reviewers are talking about claiming that this is difficult to build. The only problems I ran into are that the screws to hold the knobs on the doors were too short. I bought two metric M4 size screws that were 1.25 inches long to solve this issue. The back paneling instructions say to attach the several pieces with screws, which is ridiculous imho, and there are no premade screw holes for the panels. They would not fit properly with screws anyway. I bought a small box of wire nails and just nailed the back panels on.The piece has a nice finish though the wood is light and soft. The entire thing finished weighs maybe 80 pounds. It has room for my center speaker under the TV, along with enough room for my stereo receiver and my other peripherals. The shelves under the TV have slits cut into them for better air circulation which is appreciated.Would recommend this purchase!

Good quality for the money. Absolutely no wafer board materials and very well designed and constructed. Take your time assembling this unit as this can take up to a couple of hours to fully assemble. Nothing tricky in the install as all hardware and instructions were complete and easy to follow. They even included a bag of spare parts in the event a screw was missing or you lost one in the assembly. All hardware bags are clearly numbered, so you do not have to figure out what fastener to use from a large bag of hardware. The unit arrives in one HEAVY box, so you will need help bringing it in the house and where you plan to install. Or like me, I just moved it far enough into the house and carried the individual parts to my living room prior to assembly. Like others have stated, it does appear that you could scratch or mar the surface with some ease, so be careful in installing your A/V equipment. The top open shelf or the middle shelves are the only ones wide enough for my older receiver and CD player. The area behind the doors is about 13-inches wide which won't accommodate any of my equipment. It does make a good location for media storage.

I purchased this based on the fact that I have an espresso dining table already and it was solid wood for $200, I mean you just can't beat that. Following purchasing, I read some reviews and got a little concerned about quality issues that other buyers had noticed, pieces too long, wood splitting, scratches on arrival, etc. To my delight, I did not experience any of these problems. All pieces were separated via foam sheeting and I was careful when removing them not to let them slide on each other. All of my pieces were the right length, no splitting, etc. I wanted to write this to let others know that quality seems to have improved since other reviews were written, or I just got really lucky, either way it is possible to get a good one.One thing, there were no predrilled holes for the back paneling, but the screws are sharp and I used a drill so it was no issue at all.Also, hanging the doors was a little tricky since those holes were not marked well. Fiddled with getting those right for a little while. All in all took about 2.5 hours to assemble and it looks great.

Top notch solid wood.

Came well packed is made of real wood, pine to be exact very pleased
