So very quiet!
Great little filter! It worked amazingly in my 10 gallon axolotl aquarium. Its really quiet which is a necessity for me as the aquarium is in my bed room and if it's to loud it really irritates me, but this thing was dead silent and with the spray bar I was able to direct the current where ever I wanted it to go to prevent there being a current and upsetting my little axolotl.

Do not buy this for any other purpose than ornamental
Three month update-this filter is absolutely worthless and I need to replace it completely. It simply does not clean anything, or work for maintaining a fish tank with live fish in it. Firstly I am not an amateur-I have three fish tanks with multiple species and multiple setups and I test regularly and clean regularly as well as maintain a live plant ecosystem. Since installation of this filter in a 10gal tank, I have had nothing but problems from rapidly changing levels of PH and ammonia, to large amounts of algae buildup. I discovered as stated in my first review that it has no clear instructions and you can switch off the filtration part of this very easily, it never tells you that though. After multiple cleaning's of the filter itself I eventually took apart the whole thing and replaced the pelletized charcoal that came with it with professional aquarium charcoal and it helped slightly, however the design is so poor that it hardly draws any water through the actual filtration part of it (it will suck just straight water through) so I guess that would work if you're using it for a fountain in water that is treated for algae growth ect....the multiple hoses that create a waterfall effect were very nice but I have to give this whole thing up because it simply isn't effective at all. I realize it's like a 10$ filter so I know what I paid for, but don't expect to be able to use it functionality AT ALL. It really is just cheap china garbage. I'm so sick of trying to make it work. Don't waste your life like I have-buy something better10 days in-First let me say it is a very cheap filter and you probably can't find anything priced as low so keeping that in mind it's not too bad, however it is very small. I set it up in a 10 gal aquarium with three small fish inside of it, and it seems to run well however the instructions are very clearly translated poorly into English and leave out several rather important pieces of information-for example the on and off switch also acts as an on and off use of the filter itself. There is a toggle switch, and when you move it left it only takes in water and spits it out, unfiltered. If you toggle it to the right, you engage the actual filter! Again NOWHERE is this mentioned in the instructions. Becase of this over the course of one week my tank became too alkaline and two of my fish died. The filter comes completely disassembled loose in a small cardboard box as well. After figuring all this out by troubleshooting the filter seems to perform ok actually, but I haven't changed the filter yet and there is absolutely no information on how to do that

Great Filter
My old tank filter broke, so I purchased this filter. The price was really reasonable, and the filter works better than the original one on my tank - if you need a fish tank filter for up to 40 gallons, buy this one in the size you need.

Great little filter for a 7 gallon tank
This is a great little filter for my 7 gal tank. I've had it going now for about 4 months. There are 10 1inch minnows a dojo Loach and two snails. The water is about 68 degrees and lots of vegetation with glow lite black gravel. This little filter handles cleaning well and aerate nicely with its waterfall effect. I take it apart anf clean it out weekly. Tapping on the wash basin gets the sticky dirt out. I clean the duckweed off the outside slats twice a week. Cleans pretty easily. Only 10 percent water changes every other week. The tank has good parameters with this little filter. The only drawback is that it hums. It's a soft hum, the fish don't seem to mind. I just wish it was quiet, but I won't change it out because it does a good job.

Worth the money, but not very efficient. Wouldn’t recommend for long term use.
It works, the water is cloudy in a ten gallon after a couple days though. I have to clean it often and that’s not something I was able to do, will replace with a better brand. Works in a pinch though, I wouldn’t use it for the recommended water amount though. It’s not quite powerful enough. The plastic body is very cheap, and the clip holding it together is difficult to pry apart for cleaning. Be careful not to break it apart.

Works great; full submersible and placeable anywhere in the tank
Works great; full submersible and placeable anywhere in the tank! In a small tank can provide a small current (on top or under the water) and in really small tanks (Mine is 5 gallons or less for a solo Beta) may need to be on lowest setting to make sure the current isn't too strong - but otherwise fabulous and great price!

Junk
This is junk. Do not buy it. It doesn’t work. Doesn’t filter. And most importantly comes with a bunch of little pieces and no instructions on how to even put it together!
