Q: I’ve just got a set of these and the middle bracket moves left and right about 1cm each way. Is this normal ?

Yes, you must tighten to lock in desired position. Suggest using screw at each side to prevent weight of speakers toppling them from the bracket.

Q: can they be attached to plasterboard?

Hi, yes of course with the correct rawl plugs, I hung two Dali Spektor 2 on mine with the rawl plugs supplied and they are fine on plasterboard. These speakers are 4.2KGs each, if you have much heavier speakers I would use some more suitable plasterboard plugs. I hope this helps.
