3rd question: not planning on doing any hunting but will carry a lot of geology field work equip. Adaquate for overnight hike with that?

Probably more of a biology bag and not a geology bag. Would do well for geography even. But not geology.

is the camo pattern the only reason for significant price difference? they are all the same packs correct?

No they are different generations. The new more expensive pack has the lighter magnesium frame and the lighter new KXO 50 fabric. It’s also bigger with like a detachable spotting scope pocket and maybe some different other pocket options. That’s ridiculous that someone would say it’s the camo pattern.

Hi, I was wondering why there is a price difference between the two packs? Is one the old version?

The difference is based on the Camo.

Are there any type of molle attachments to add additional pouches?

Hi Dan, The Badlands 2200 Camouflage Hunting Backpack has three cross straps that secure the "bat-wing" flaps. These straps could be used to attach additional pouches to the bag.
