Can someone confirm: if my portafilter (coffee holder) weighs 520g and I tare that, I'm only going to get .5g resolution for any coffee I add?

Hi, the increments are based on weight 0.1g (0.3~500g), 0.5g (501~1000g), and 1.0g (1001~3000g) For this case. When you put a 520g coffee holder on it and begin to pour over, that will be 0.5g. When you put a 520g coffee holder on it and pour over after tare, that will be 0.1g. I'll show you on the video. Please note that the total weight on the scale shouldn't exceed 3000g(No matter tare or not) Our after-sales mailbox is : support@kitchentour.us Welcome to contact us if any problems.

Why should I weigh the coffee instead of just adding it in?

Reproducibility. Have you ever made an amazing cup of coffee and thought to yourself “how did I do that?” By taking a few extra seconds to weigh the water and coffee you are more easily able to tweak your brew. You can taste a cup and instantly know how to change it next time. Once you find your favorite recipe you can make it indefinitely.

Can this scale turn on with cup already on it? Basically, auto-tare.

Yep, that's what I do. Also fwiw I'm extremely happy with this scale for coffee, so far it has been as reliable and accurate as my friend's acaia. Side by side the kitchentour is within 0.1g of the acaia and measures my macchiato cups dead on the same weight every time, even between power cycles.

Does this scale have a long delay when the weight changes? Can any person share?

No, it shows the weight change almost instantly.
