A Favorite
Eons ago the Victoria and Albert Museum in London introduced some of Kaffe's remarkable work and I have followed him ever since. I adore beautiful, fine antique quilts in subdued colors, Amish quilts, and Welsh trapunto quilts, but also love Kaffe's vibrant color palette and playful sense of design. There's room for different design approaches and color combinations. The concept of using a simple shape to best effect deeply appeals to me, so this book is a favorite. I'm a newcomer to sewing quilts and flipped for the Kilim, based on triangles which looked easy to cut out and stitch. Silly me! Totally forgot that there are 2 bias edges to each triangle that have to be managed. YIKES. Persevered and so pleased with the result. Next project was easier and lots of fun--sewing strips of different widths and lengths from scraps for 2 large pillows felt resourceful and satisfying. Try one!

Just wanted one quilt pattern from this book
I ordered this book because I saw a quilt on someone else's website that was based upon the author's Bordered Diamond Quilt design, and I wanted the pattern for a quilt I'm making as a wedding gift. I think the online quilt was much prettier than the one in his book. I personally don't care for the choice of fabric COLORS & PRINTS used in the quilts in the book, but the designs are good. The designs are mostly geometric, based upon shapes in things around us. I do a fair amount of quilting, but don't spend time in quilting circles, so didn't know who the author of the book is. ( I guess he's well-known among quilters.....) I wouldn't have randomly bought the book except that I wanted that quilt pattern and was too busy, in a hurry & too tired to figure out the pattern & dimensions on my own! It's a decent book, but not one that would've attracted my attention if I'd just flipped through it in a store somewhere.

Beautiful Quilt Designs
I made this quilt for my son years ago. Then a couple of years ago he took it to Bonnaroo and it was stolen. He was crushed. He recently went through a really bad time so I wanted to make him another quilt to cheer him up but I couldn't find the pattern and this book is out of print. I was thrilled to be able to find it on Amazon.

Spectacular Book!
This book will get your creative juices flowing! There is an abundance of eye candy amid the pattern, color and design of these quilts as well as teaching the eye how to view everything in nature and our every day surroundings as a design possibility. I highly recommend this book to the quilter, painter, needlework designer, etc. as an excellent teaching tool.

Glorious quilts
Inspired by shapes in the world around us, Kaffe Fasset presents another selection of fab quilt designs. I've used the bordered diamond design on a very effective 'saturated colour' cushion cover. With good instructions and beautiful photos.

Inspirational and Stunning Photography
The photographs are stunning and have inspired me to look for geometric shapes and colour in my surroundings. Kaffe is expert at pushing the boundaries of colour and several quilts are stunningly composed of colours I simply thought did not go together. The instructions are not as clear as those in books from big Kaffe fans - Material Obsession for instance - but I believe the book is intended as inspiration rather than an exact prescription. The inspiration provided is why I have given 4 stars.Down sides. The quantities of fabric given are not exact, so in order to make one of the quilts it would be useful to be making from a fabric stash.A few quilts are highlighted as being suitable or not suitable for beginners, but the majority are not graded accroding to skill level.Measurements are given in both inches and cm which is useful.

Kaffe Fassett's simple shapes for spectacular quilts
I have always liked Kaffe's work and have a selection of his quilting and knitting books. I bought this one to add to my collection and it has not been a disappointment. He described how he found his inspiration, and following his guidance, I am slowly learning to use my own inspiration.
