Informative, but quite repetitive
I learned a couple of things from this book that I didn't already know from reading other books about the film scoring industry. However, I can't agree with the endorsements chosen by the publisher that imply this book breaks new ground, etc.It was very basic, very simple reading, and I got frustrated at how often the author repeated himself. Sometimes, it felt like the same content was actually copied and pasted from one section to another. If this is one of the first books you read on the subject, it might prove to be quite helpful to you. But it's by no means a major work. Some of the anecdotes included are humorous, and I enjoyed the "insider" feel when reading it. But overall, I came away wishing I had gotten a lot more depth and not so much repetitive fluff.

Great !
If who reads is a beginner this book tells the story. If you are experienced, I'm sure you will learn something and may confirm if you have being doing things correctly. (For composers, music editors, or whoever is involved on the film music production process).

Detailed and Vivid
This is the first book I bought about film scoring. It has thoroughly explained everything I need to know about the current film scoring industry. Some chapters that amused me are the conducting and working with directors. The author has all-round experience and knowledge to handle those projects and share it with the readers.

Great information
The information in this book is very important and a must read when you are preparing your music for film. As I am working on a film at the moment for the first time, writing the score is one thing, but getting it ready correctly and knowing the in's and out's of how to go about this, and where to seek help if budget allows is a life saver.

Nuts and bolts
A good, detailed insider's introduction to the film composer's world. Once you have your music degree, this book tells you about the industry, the players/stakeholders, and what to expect on the job (or even how to get a job). A little dated now, but still mostly relevant. Full of tips, techniques, and helpful guidance on film scoring from a working professional.
