Hall's rounded, bell-like tone and Carter's assured rhythms are extremely well-suited to investigate the harmonic possibilities on a variety of tunes, from "Blue Monk" and "St. Thomas" in the bebop vein to "Stardust" and "Embraceable You" on the standard side. "Two's Blues" and "Bags Groove" suggest cerebral blues, whereas "Summer Night" and "Candlelight" are given the pristine, introspective at which these two are masters.
