FaTip Nichelato Piccolo Double Edge Safety Razor Chrome

My partner says:I have about 5 closed comb razors, including 4 vintage Gillette's, including an early 60's English Tech, a 1968 Slim Adjustable & a 1948-50 Super Speed , but this was my first open comb type.First the heft and balance is excellent. It balances just past the upper handle ring. It weighs around 75 gms. The handle is very grippy, I have had no problems with slippage. It has very deep vertical knurling which helps. I found no issues at all with blade alignment, using 3 different types of blade. For the price, getting a solid brass OC razor of this build quality is a ridiculous bargain. There are a few minor imperfections on the handle, but they are hand made in Italy, not China and they are not made of zamac.The shave is outstanding. Everything locks down well and solid. The blade exposure is 38% less than the first edition Piccolo's but this is more than enough to give outstanding efficient shaves. A 3 passer using Tabac or Arko on a 4 day growth just mows it down. It gives absolutely BBS shaves and feels great in the hand. It prefers premium blades, which are sharp and smooth.Outstanding razor for the money, great build quality and gives a fantastic shave. A great intro open comb razor.A no-brainer to be honest.

Thanks first to the seller for delivering this razor spot on time. Now down to the razor I had 2 days growth so plenty of whiskers to get rid of i loaded it with a nacet blade on its second shave. I have an R41 and to me this razor is just as effective only a lot smoother I've heard people saying about blade alignment but this is the v2 with the logo stamped on the base plate. I had absolutely no problem with this, I did a 3 pass shave WTG,XTG,ATG and a few touch up I ended up with a BBS with no aeration anywhere this is a great little razor small but a great shaver plus its all brass under the coating im so glad I bought this little jem as usual YMMV

I have many DE razors (too many): Merkur 37C, Fine Marvel, Muhle R41, Yaqi Slant. The Fatip is my favourite. I have a course beard and I need a razor with 'bite' to cut close. I find the Fatip to be close to the 37C in terms of aggression and efficiency. The Fatip doesn't cut as close as the R41 or Yaqi but it is very comfortable. Blade alignment needs to be checked and small adjustments are necessary (but very easy) - a small price to pay for an excellent razor!

Perfect razor. I had two merkur classics that felt great until the chrome came off and the zinc alloy beneath crumbled. This razor is smaller, but very well made in Italy with brass. I've had it for years and no problems with the chrome.

With razors it’s difficult to guess if they suit your hand never mind your skin. I bought one of these out of curiosity and absolutely wish I hadn’t, it was a disaster.I own a few razors mainly Merkur, so I decided on a Fatip open comb razor, to which wasn’t a pleasant experience.Firstly I was amazed how small they are, the handle isn’t much bigger than a pencil which doesn’t give you much control when shaving.The finish is very poor, badly finished off and rough to touch. The overall shave is rather aggressive, but you don’t have much control because of the weight and the thin shaft, so I wasn’t pleased with the performance.Only just over 70 grams, it’s a very disappointing performer of which my Merkur certainly blows this out of sight.
