Standard Motor Products IGN TX40 Temperature sensor

Purchased this thinking it was the coolant fan switch that goes into the radiator, but instead it's the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor that installs into the engine. Nonetheless, my fan switch still needs to be replaced, but this sensor brought life to my jalopy! One of the functions of an ECT sensor is to indirectly determine fuel trims. Welp, my engine was running slightly lean for a while that caused sluggish engine response and more importantly, higher NOx levels that failed emissions. Since installation, I've noticed an increase in throttle response, the engine runs smoother and I can safely assume my trim levels are finally on point. I've purchased SMP in the past with great results, and this product was no exception.

My return window closed by the time I realized the connector for this item requires modifications to connect to a 97 Jag XJ6 while it was presented as an item that would fit this car. Ended up buying a part that fits from a local auto supply shop.

I have a Mazda RX8. The installation lists as an 8 hour job. My neighbor and I were able to install it in 3 ... the part works as it should. The only problem we had with the part was te washer was lose on the threads and fell into the engine compartment. The original part had a washer that fit the threads and we had to substitute it. But a little attention to those kinds of details makes a big to the mechanics using the parts.

Has been in my 2003 sequoia for two months and working like a charm.
