Half moon bay
By far the worst Kellerman book I have ever read. Very boring and I'm not even sure why I finished it. It's like it was old stuff laying around and thrown into a book format. Very disappointed

NOT A HALF MOON BAY STORY
I bought this book because I live in the Half Moon Bay area. There is no mention of Half Moon Bay until very near the end of the book. And it was only significant because, as it turns out, one of the characters lives in a Trailer Park in Half Moon Bay. Very misleading title. Half Moon Bay has absolutely nothing to do with the story.

Save your money...
Wow..first Kellerman book that did hold my I interest..it was just awful...too many and too convoluted characters....I still don’t who did what and who’s who...save your money!

Pretty disappointed.....
I typically enjoy Jonathan's books, but this story was too convoluted --too many side stories. I will be very cautious before reading any other joint efforts from them.

Disappointing mystery novel
Very disappointing.... started out good, immediately got by attention but then became very convoluted with various story lines, way too much description regarding politics pertaining to People’s Park. I almost didn’t finish but then did skip ahead to end.

Likeable protagonist
Like most readers, I enjoy a novel more when I like the characters. I like Clay Edison. I like his wife. They are normal not-always-happy hardworking honest young parents. Clay is the protagonist, a coroner by profession. He's smart but not smart-alecky. He's courageous without being foolhardy. He's the brother, friend, neighbor, or coworker you like and trust. I will certainly continue to follow his adventures. The only quibble I have is there are so many characters in the novel that it's impossible to keep them sorted.

Not great.
To Jonathan and Jesse:You can do better than this. And you have done better than this. Clay is a good character, and the setting -- the coroner's office -- is a good one. This one was too complicated, as others have said. Too many characters doing stuff people don't really do. Etc. Clay spent too much time running around doing stuff a coroner doesn't do. Those people at White Trash Disneyland were . . . disgusting. The people from the distant past were . . . boring. Etc.

Just a huge DUD!
It fan of Jonathan Kellerman’s books. This collaboration with his son is horrible rambling attempt at a story. Maybe his son has anew baby girl and he tried help him out autobiographically.Could not force myself to finish. Come on Jonathan!

Competent
Well written, slick in fact but absolutely no edge,no emotion, dull really, the younger Kellerman’s input seems all in the wrong direction.

Confusing
There were so many diverse people in this novel that the plot became quite confusing. Were we trying to find the identity of the buried child or locate the kidnapped child? Toward the end it seemed as though everyone was related.

Read well over 30 Kellerman books and this is the first I won't finish.
I have read over 3 dozen Jonathan Kellerman books and now this is the third with Jesse, his son and co-author. I am 40% through this book and I give up...I just cannot follow the tangled story and spider web of characters. Both authors are exceptional at painting the imagery and characters....but the book plots are gradually increasing in complexity and number of characters is getting silly. In this book, I have now lost track of how many times I have had to backtrack and use Kindle search features to try to figure "who is this person again?" If I need to keep notes and diagrams to follow a story, it becomes more like studying for an exam than an enjoyable read.
