Graphic. Vivid. Sexual. Funny. Erotic to the "nth" degree times forty. Pink, perky, delicious and I'm just talking about the cover. This is a very sexually explicit graphic novel that will excite as well as arouse. You'll want to skip through the dialogue because the art is about 75,000 calorie of PURE eye candy; but don't. It is funny as hell! When reading books of this nature you know that there aren't many things that off limits, but even I couldn't believe they went there with the park scene!! Then they did it AGAIN! My favorite character was `Fats'. He's the loser that you can't help but like and this guy is the proverbial fly-on-the-wall who (almost) has it pretty good. While he doesn't get to sleep with the extremely hot women that pass through his life, he at least gets to watch them get down with other people. A comedy break in the middle of a non-stop orgy... what's not to like? A bawdy, erotic perversion of a book this is.

Getting close, is a very well drawn escapade. The stories are slightly hard-core but the script and art is awesome. I really enjoyed reading this one.

This title came up under a search for lesbian material - my friend, who asked me to order this for her, was quite disappointed to find that the material was heterosexual in nature

Atilio Gambedotti Comickunst ist sicherlich auf einem hohen Niveau angekommen. Man will gar nicht fragen, ob überhaupt noch eine Steigerung möglich ist, oder ob dies überhaupt notwendig ist. Eine zeichnerische Verbesserung ist ohne Zweifel zu erkennen, wenn man sich die Entwicklung von den ersten Kurzgeschichten mit Autor und Freund Ivan Guevara über Room-Mates, 4 Girlfriends zu Getting Close ansieht. Mittlerweile hat Gambedotti seinen Zeichenstil gefunden, fühlt sich äußerst sicher darin und verbessert in Nuancen die optische Qualität. Getting Close besteht aus lustvollen, kurzweiligen Geschichten, die ohne Gewalt oder Härte auskommen und sehr entspannt zwischenmenschliche Geschichten erzählen, die eine Gruppe von Freunden erlebt; mal erfüllt mit Witz und Charme, aber auch mit Kummer und Liebesleid. Wenn man sich (warum auch immer) nur ein Album pro Jahr leistet, dann sollte ein Band von Atilio Gambedotti - vielleicht sogar dieser hier - auf der Einkaufliste stehen. Man wird es nicht bereuen.

This is a collection of short stories revolving around four teenage friends. The characters herein are completely amoral - though, admittedly, they seem to be as immune to getting hurt as they are to feeling any guilt when they hurt others. Even the geezer who is supposedly caused anguish in witnessing (by spying on) a girl he is sweet on who is at it with two uncouth blokes is actually wanking himself silly as he does so. Gambedotti's characters are usually a lot less pleasant, and therefore realistic, than most found in entertainments (as opposed to art novels), but in Getting Close they are all so selfish, so lacking in empathy or humanity that it is somewhat alienating. The art is the usual good stuff you expect from Gambedotti.
