No. This breathable mesh is for when you are parked. It is not permanently stuck to your car! Will this keep a mountain lion from getting into your car? No, nor raccoons. This sunshield/mesh is designed to keep bugs out, the sun out, and give you ventilation. Very impressed with the double and triple stitching that goes around the entire perimeter that holds the magnets in place. It does come with a very nice storage bag for it, and then the mesh folds up and fits back into nicely.Make sure that you measure your sunroof before ordering one because there are different sizes. I highly recommend this mesh not just for camping, but for many other things as well.

I ordered this item knowing that it would likely be a bit small for my 2021 Subaru Forester Sunroof, but just planning to keep the window partially shut to make it work. It worked as intended and like a charm. It was easy to put up and stayed in place very well. It easily kept out bugs and improved airflow. We didn't sleep in the car but did need to store things in it and this item was perfect for keeping the car well ventilated so that the inside didn't start to smell. I would just make sure to be cognizant of the size of your sunroof and how easy it is for you to get to the roof of your vehicle for the install. It's pretty easy on a Forester; I just used the passenger and driver side door frames to get high enough. But I could see it being an issue for very large SUVs particularly if you're not very tall.

So I got this for an Odyssey 2013. It fits fine as long as the roof is closed, but once opened it's a very tight fit. It does cover the entire perimeter of the window, but you have to adjust it just right or it'll leave open gaps. It wouldn't be an issue if it was just the length and width that needed to be accounted for, but because the window has bar that raises up when opened, it'll also pull the mesh up.The weird part is that the magnetic bars would sometimes curve up when not to attached to anything. It was easy enough to set them straight and place them, and they would then stay straight on the rooftop. So it didn't really create an issue, but it's just weird that they curve up when not being used and I hope that it's not something that indicates they will end up cracking.The last comment would be that the mesh is woven tight enough that it doesn't really allow for much airflow. I was hoping it would allow the cool night air to cool down my van and keep it from feeling warm inside, but that wasn't really the case.

I wasn't expecting much from this, but as I'm planning to camp in my car this weekend, I hope to have something to cover the sunroof like this. This will definitely work, although with my sunroof open it does tilt a little bit and it did pull on the mesh and cause some gaping between where the magnets sit. I don't think it will be that big of an issue and I can probably reach it enough to fuss with it and get it mostly closed. It does provide a good amount of shade as well as blocking out bugs. It fit well on my 2014 Honda CRV with extra room for arranging.

The concept of this product is clever I only wish that it had worked. It's based on the concept that magnets hold the mesh to the magnet of your car and that mesh covers the hole in your sunroof. That is true but the problem with it is that the magnets are not strong enough! I used mine to just drive around town with no speed greater than 35 mph. Even if that low speed the magnets could not hold the mesh onto the car! Thank goodness I didn't go up onto the highway. I didn't find anywhere in the product description word had told me of this vital limitation. What's the point of covering the sunroof if you could only drive 35 miles an hour? I wouldn't buy it again.

Based on initial quality, and untested, the screen seems reasonable enough. However, the length is significantly longer than advertised, at 40.5 inches. The space I have (2022 Subaru Outback) requires no more than about 37.25 inches between the roof rails. So, it's either do an alteration or hope that bugs don't find their way through the uneven, bunched up folds. On the positive side: It does seem good for the price.

I recently bought a tent that connects to the back of my vehicle and a blow up mattress that fits in the back seat and trunk area. I didn't want to keep my SUV running but I didn't want to have to deal with the mosquitoes coming in while I slept. This worked perfectly. The magnets are strong and withstood the wind very well and didn't let any critters inside while still letting the air come in perfectly. Highly recommend.
