I was coming down with a cold, and I purchased the Sambucol throat lozenges at the pharmacy because my throat was sore. I try not to use too much cold medicine unless absolutely necessary because I have high blood pressure. Since this is an all-natural product, I was not as concerned about it interacting with my blood pressure meds. On the day I bought the lozenges, I took about five of them over a period of 12 hours. The next morning I woke up almost completely symptom free! I read the information on the Sambucol website and it indicated that the product could be taken daily as a preventative. Since I'm trying to watch my carbs, I ordered the sugar free syrup on Amazon. I have taken two spoonfuls a day, every day, throughout cold and flu season. First winter in years I have not been sick at all! The sugar free syrup is sweetened with Stevia and it has a pleasant taste - not overly sweet or thick. I recommend this product as an effective preventative of sickness during the winter months.

Love this because it is sugar free and not the regular sickening sweet one. Everyone should realize that sugar suppresses immune function so it's not a good thing to be having sugar and especially when fighting off a cold or flu. The fact that this is very expensive for a small size encouraged me to look for an elderberry syrup that was less expensive and had no sugar. I did find it at an online vitamin store without any sweetener at all for a size twice as large and at half this price. Yes, a bit tart but we actually like it best!

I feel healthier because it's an immune system booster. During this time everyone should keep their immune system boosted. Because of some reviews I was skeptical about getting the sugar-free, having had tried the regular one. I prefer the sugar-free now. Great taste, great quality, great price, not too sweet or thick

Recently, I went out to dinner and a movie with friends, and was unlucky enough to be seated next to the only person in the group who was actively sick with bad cold. I knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that I would catch her cold. So I started taking Sambucol that very evening, and kept taking it until I felt the telltale lethargia and sore throat that precedes a full-blown cold (and then, took it even more frequently once I had the cold). While the cold wasn't prevented entirely, the symptoms are much more minor than they might have been. How do I know this? Well, I saw my unfortunate friend sneezing her head off and sniffling on her third day with the cold. I'm on day two, and my symptoms are not as severe as hers. And I suspect that the cold's duration will also be shorter than it would be otherwise. I've also taken Sambucol with bacterial infections (bronchitis) and while I can't be sure it helped, I doubt it hurt! My only complaint about this formula is that because it's sugar free, it has a bit of a strange, artificial aftertaste (although I know Stevia is natural, it doesn't taste like sugar). But since I'm on a low carb diet, it's great that this option even exists.

I have had one dose so far, it doesn’t taste bad at all! My husband is sick so I ordered some to try. I’m thankful that it is sugar free so I can drink it. Thank you!
