A complete kit, includes cable and interface, but use a precision screwdriver if you have one. No instructions, but not hard to figure out how things should go. Let me format and return a friend's old drive to use for their backups.

I have a spare laptop drive aside,figured I could get that external case and use it for portable storage. Unfortunately I was in rush, and simply took the cheapest one. Overall pretty sweet deal product came in on time. I'm sure it works great, although i have a SATA type connection on my hard drive, so this one is useless. Anyways I just hope this comment will hopefully prevent someone from making same mistake

This item has worked fine since I purchased it. I am supposed to write 20 words, but this is a fairly simple device and 20 words is overkill.

This is an inexpensive tool/material to have on hand in case of an emergency or when you need to back up your internal hard drive. After my hard drive upgrade, I am using my old had drive as an external drive housed on this enclosure. Very handy and very inexpensive. I'd recommend to have 1 or 2 on hand.

Item is not a scam. My own fault for not reading enough about the product. Item is as described.

Bought two, both DOA.Had a faint clicking noise from one, no noise from the other. Power/activity lamp came on for both units.Rechecked drives with my Vantec usb pata/sata test rig, and both drives are good.I will be returning both enclosures, and buying a different brand.
