I would highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to take their prayer life seriously! God speaks through Holy Scripture, and this book helps illustrate how the reception of God's Word has been practiced over the centuries.

This is a book I use frequently. It is another of my bedside books. As a practitioner of Centered Prayer and of Lectio it is my go-to guide.I looked for this particular book for a long time and just happened to run into it one day when I was looking at Amazon for something else.I regret not looking there sooner.
