Does the matte top coat need a uv light for drying?

The OPI top coats that come in clear glass do not need an LED/UV lamp to set. They're normal solvent based polish. The top coats that come in a black or opaque bottle will need an LED/UV lamp to set.

Does it change the color of the polish?

I've been using it for years and I've never had an issue with my polish changing. I only use lacquers, so I'm not sure how it responds to regular polish.

Does this top coat keep the polish from chipping?

Yes I have good luck wth it. I have always used a top coat or polish will chip. Do a bottom coat 2 coats of color one coat of top coat. BUT you must let each coat dry a few minutes in between. Later soak in ice water. Victoria

Does it work with gel?

This was a horrible purchase. It does not work with gel or anything else. I don’t know what was in it but I had to just throw it out. It doesn’t dry.
