McGill's War: A History of Life in Britain During the Great War Illustrated by the Art of Donald Fraser McGill

Many of us are familiar with Donald McGill's saucy seaside postcards of the post 1920's era, but not as well known are his first World War postcards. McGill produced hundreds of postcards covering many aspects of the first World War era through the 1914-18 time frame. I've been interested in this subject for years and have collected the cards which are beautifully composed and detailed, and with more muted colours compared to the saucy seaside postcards. The book follows various topics connected to the war, the war effort and the home front, all lavishly illustrated by Donald McGill's cards. A great book, and highly recommended.
