Its the "Old West" from True West Magazine...What more could you ask?

Love to read the history

The one good thing about this book is that it has numerous couple of page stories on topics of the Old West. From there, I can't say that I'm impressed with it - sorry. I started by reading the excerpt: "The Warrior Who Killed Custer?" It is about White Bull and this is one of the original stories about what happened from a little less than 100 years ago. The analysis about what happened at The Little Big Horn has since progressed from there. There are many theories that are more believable than this one (and the author even wonders at the end of it). The one that I believe happened is that Custer was shot in the chest (a mortal wound but not immediate) at the northern fork of the Little Big Horn. He was then taken from there to Custer Hill where the unit that he was with (probably under his brother Tom) recognized that things had progressed beyond help. Right before the end, Tom probably put a gun to Custer's head and killed him so that the Indians would not capture him mortally wounded. Tom Custer, of course, may have been the one killed by White Bull, but recently, there has been a more believable theory on that also. Certainly, White Bull's story is true and my guess is that his victim was Captain Yates.

Fabulous book and well worth the price

My father absolutely love this birthday gift I gave him. He said he thought he knew everything about cowboys. But he said this book showed so much information that he never knew.

This book will be a great addition to my brothers collection.

I bought this for my grandpa. He loved it. He said it was packed with information about the old west.
