Fun activity kit
Fun crafty activity to do with children. My kids have really enjoyed it. Process is a little repetitive and simple. Then the candles don't burn for very long, and they don't melt much of the wax when they burn. But burning the candles is not really the point of this kit - the shapes and the process are the main point. The molds are fun, and there are quite a few options. My kids loved mixing the different colored wax beads to make new colors. I loved the added teachable information about melting and freezing and the melting temps of different materials. This ended up being a fun activity for a 3, 5, and 10 yr old to do together (with heavy adult supervision). All three were very proud of their candles and very happy to get to light up a candle they had made themselves.

Easy, fun project for kids.
This is a super easy, fun project. My daughter is 7 and she had so much fun making gifts for her friends! The front of the instructions also has cute little lessons on melting points and such, so we talked about solids, liquids, etc.We added 3-5 drops of essential oil after pouring each mold and they had a decent aroma (before lighting). The candles are about 1/2-1” thick per bag of color, depending on the mold size.Tips: A shallow frying pan works better than a pot as far as getting the metal cup in and out. Have tongs and an oven mitt, as well as extra water to replenish if making multiple candles. It’s easiest to clean residual wax out of the cup when it’s wet using a paper towel. Just be careful!Cut the wick just above the stick and remove the stick prior to saran wrapping/freezing. Happy candle making. :)

A great activity
My grandkids (11 and 12) loved this activity. They were able to do it independently except for melting the wax. They liked the vivid colors and the choice of molds.

Kit has everything you need - hop on the stove
I am assuming the booklet authors were afraid of being sued - instructions to melt wax are wayyyy off for practical purposes. Heat water on stove, fill so water is a solid quarter of an inch below height of provided metal heating cup, set normal stove at an 8 or whatever you'd use to fry - add your essential oil to unmelted wax in metal heating cup (to melt it faster). Don't let surrounding water BOIL INTO wax. Plan on doing 2 at a time unless you have loads of popsicle sticks with holes on you (IE about 2 every 17 to 20 minutes) as the kit only comes with 2. Also, use silver spoon to stir wax while melting - oil in wax speeds it up. Great kit for kids to make their own Christmas gifts and/or at least choose what colors you burn up for them.

The Wax Wouldn't Melt
My son (10) and I were very excited to try a candle making kit. After reading the directions, we tried to melt the candle wax first by microwaving per the instructions; it was not at all melted after several turns in the microwave. We then tried by warming the provided cup in warm, then hot water, then nearly boiling water for close to an hour. The instruction booklet says that candle wax should melt at about 99 F, but our temperature would have been way above that and for a length of time. My son gave up about one hour in. I did finally get the wax to a liquid state, but it immediately after removal from the hot water (less than 5 seconds) solidified to the point of dripping out in hot, waxy clumps. We also purchased a kit more geared for adults, and I actually expect that one will be easier and safer to use.

Lengthy
Fun, but my 5 and 6 year old became bored after 20 minutes. Didn't realize how long this process takes. We had burner on medium heat, but then the water started to boil (directions say don't let water boil) so we turned it down a bit. Water still boiled a bit and wax is still melting going on an hour. Then tried the microwave process....took just as long. Still waiting for wax to melt 🤪

Fun for the grandkids
I was looking for something that my grandchildren could help make & take home to their parents. This was a fun activity for my 7 year old grandson & my 5 year old granddaughter. Both had lots of fun layering the candles & stirring in the colors. Their parents said the candles were very pretty when burned!
