This kitchen canister is as beautiful as it is useful.I originally got it to store food, but have found it perfect as a compost holder. I have a small kitchen and the rather large compost container (about two feet fall, one foot deep and one foot wide) provided by our trash company is too big to fit in my kitchen. I was using a eight inch metal bowl, but it had no cover, so I had to keep it in the fridge to discourage insects. This meant I was continually opening and closing the fridge, usually with messy hands from cooking, to compost a bit of food.To the rescue is this kitchen canister. It takes up minimum space on my kitchen counter. It has a lid, so I can keep it closed, discouraging insects and smells. The lid fits very snugly. With this item I don't have to be continually opening and closing the fridge to compost a tiny garlic skin.It is sturdy; I think it will last a long time. It is made of high-quality smooth porcelain. The lid are made of natural wood, not plastic, although there is a silicon (I think) strip inside the lid that makes it fit securely on the base. You can wash it in the dishwasher, although I would probably wash it by hand since it is ceramicIf I ever get tired of using it as a compost holder, I can think of numerous other items I could store in it. I would even put it in my living room to store odds and ends. It would fit in a bathroom, especially one with marble, since it is faux marble, to store cotton balls, etc.This canister is beautiful and useful, possibly serving many needs.

This is exactly what I needed for keeping coffee stored fresh by our coffee maker. I got the larger one (39oz) and it's perfect for your basic 1lb bag of ground coffee. I assume the same would be true for whole beans.The quality is great. The jar itself is a nice stoneware with enough heft to "feel" good. The design is very nice and this feels like it belongs among other upscale, "warm" decor in a nice kitchen. The lid makes a nice, airtight seal (important for keeping things fresh!). I've tested this through almost a full bag of coffee (we go through a bag in 2+ weeks) and the coffee has stayed fresh throughout.The price seems very reasonable to me. I'll probably pick up the smaller size as well to store the occasional loose leaf tea.If this matches your decor/style, you can't go wrong!

We add powdered collagen to our coffee every morning and wanted something to store it in besides the bag in comes in. We were looking for a container that looked nice enough to keep on the counter and also one with a wide enough mouth to be able to get our hands in to scoop the collagen out, and this is perfect! It fits an entire 16 oz. bag perfectly (dumb luck) and we are able to get our hands in all the way to the bottom to get the last of it out. It seals nicely and would also be perfect for sugar, coffee, flour, etc... I am not crazy about the marbled look, but it is neutral enough that it blends in with out decor. Would recommend!

I ordered this jar in the 16 ounce size with the marble design. It is durable and arrived in perfect condition as it was packaged well. I would describe the jar as iridescent looking and not what I expected. The lid is bamboo and also comes with a white ceramic spoon. This is perfect for sugar, salt or even candy. It will look pretty in my kitchen.

Great air tight jar. Feels good quality ceramic. My wife ordered it hoping that the lid was easy to get off (as she has arthritis) and she says it's super easy to get off.

I love this, well, not so little jar. I had expected it to be a good bit smaller, yet find it still a wonderful addition to my kitchen counter space. It is also perfect for replacing what was a far less attractive and utilitarian item, which is great.I was initially thinking "sugar bowl", but the small kind; not bulk storage, lol. This is definitely closer to bulk storage size than not. At the same time, it just looks so nice, that I don't mind it being larger than I had anticipated.It has a simple, yet attractive marble motif. It has a nice lid which secures itself well, while also being quite easy to remove. One thing I think is easy to miss, but I do appreciate, is that it has a concave bottom. This allows it both to slide and move easily, as well as preventing a solid contact "gunk build-up" surface area. Nice.All in all, I think this is a terrific item. Simple, but well made. Has nice weight, but not overly heavy. Easy to move, but stable on its own.
