The John Wayne Westerns Collection - 12 Movies Box Set. Import from the Netherlands with English soundtrack - Angel & The Badman - Blue Steel - Dawn Rider - Desert Trail - Drop Kick - Hell Town - His Private Secretary - Hurricane Express - Lawless Frontier - Lucky Texan - Man from Utah - McLintock The legendary actor John Wayne (born in 1907 as Marion Michael Morrison, who died in 1979) continued in dozens of films a prototype of the tough American hero down. He loved his job and told an interviewer several years before his death, he simply played himself in his films. These two words represent the core back of more than 200 films he made, the red line is a good guy with small defects, with occasional always a woman who passes by, which maintains the right path. Although he made many films, he won one Oscar for best male lead for the movie True Grit 1969.

I just purchased this the other day. Unfortunately I have to say that the quality of the recordings are very poor indeed. Even though most of these films are from 1933-1939 (except McLintock) I still think it should have been possible for the quality to be improved using todays modern technology but the suppliers and distributers of this box set chose not to do this which makes the quality of the recordings similar to something like a 20 year old videotape. All the films are black & white except McLintock which is colour and the best of the bunch imo but even the quality of this is pretty poor by todays standards. I actually have this film on my virginmedia tivo box and its much better quality than what is on this dvd set. Some other things to note are that 3 of the 'films' arent actually films but documentaries about John Wayne. Most of the fims are also in the NTSC format so might not even play on some UK players. This is something that is neither specified on the box or by Amazon in their advert for this collection. Overall I dont think its worth the £21.38 I paid and I'm seriously considering sending it back for a refund.

Pure crap.
Three stinkers, all faded and out of focus, with blurred sound and enough camera shake to make a statue seasick. In short, another ripoff made worse by cleverly presenting the DVD offers to suggest these three DVDs hold some twenty films, which they do not. You get three lousy movies.Cheap, I agree, but even so not worth the money.Avoid this mess.

BEWARE WRONG QUANTITIES OF FILMS (GOT 3 INSTEAD OF 20)
The product description is wrong. Like others I brought this blue ray collection expecting 20 movies. A few people mention only having 4 films, well they were lucky, I only got 3. If you look closely (I didn't) at the box above the John Wayne collection title you're see it's in German, the descriptions on ther back for the 3 films were also in German. I must admit the play section of the 1 disc gave a choice of German or English. I would have alright with all of that as long as I got the full quota of 20 films. So I am returning it. I have noticed that some of the complaints about the quantity go back to last year, so you'd think they would have sorted the correct quantities by now. I can't tell you about the hoops I had to through for them to agree to give me a refund.

Confused !!!
I am a bit confused and dissapointed as after reading the description it says the collection has quite a few films on the disc so you can imagine my surprise when it only has 4 films instead of the 10 ( roughly) it mentions !!!

Only 4 films on the discs, complained and got refunded. Its simple enough to provide an accurate description so one star for lack of effort to provide the correct details.

oh what a shambles
what a terrible series of films never knew John Wayne made so many awful films . Talk about Key stone cops on some of them ,I was so disappointed with this box set . there is one film on first disc called Home Run ,well! I am sure John Wayne was not in it for a start its all in sepia and its a silent movie so you got people talking to each other but no sound then every now and then a caption comes up on screen not saying half of whats been said .All [n all not worth wasting money on it .the films are all in Black White except for last one thats in colour and much more recent than the rest.

Low playback quality
It is an interesting collection of John Wayne films, not just westerns, but other genre tooI got it for less than 40 pounds, so i guess i got a value for money purchase here. no complaintsMy only concern is of the low quality of the picture and the playback in certain movies of the packFor example i have watched the Fort Apache film and the quality was below par. It was like somebody was recording from a TV screen or from an old VCR with tons of distortion and low resolutionI do not know if better quality is around, i mean we talk about films from 1948 and back, but it was a bit of a disappointment trying to watch this decent film in that low resOther than that, i guess it would make a nice present to an old-movie passionate
