Industrial Air Contractor 4 Gallon Portable Pontoon Air Compressor with 5 HP Honda Gas Engine

I bought the only one that was a 'damaged product' last week, When I got this unit I looked around and could not find any noticable damage, at least on the frame , plastic covers etc or tanks, all paint look perfect ? After I prepared it to run, I couldn't get it to start, I wasn't sure what to think but after closer observation I noticed the valve cover dented in about a 1/4 inch. I started to remove the cover but it was sealed very well and I didn't want to damage anything trying to remove it so quickly so I called the manufacture and they agreed that the rocker clearance could be compromised, they suggested a small engine repair person but I told them this is a easy fix, just wanted to make sure about the clearance. I finally got the valve cover off and yes, it had two small dents where the screw had hit, more so the screw on that rocker for the intake. I took the cover and gently pounded it out to normal , put sealer on it and sealed in back on the unit. Sure enough it started in just a couple pulls and ran perfect. I saved a couple hundred dollars by this small fix and now have a great little unit to use on my Tow truck when I need it. Thanks Amazon for the great deal!!

Very nice unit, small enough I can carry it in the trunk of a Toyota Corolla, light enough for one person to pick it up. May make some modifications to it for how it idles and handles pressure cutoff, but really is just my preference. Stock configuration, it works very well and builds pressure very fast and is actually not as loud as my electric compressor. Starts very quickly even when cold.

After adding oil and gasoline to the engine, it started on the second pull. I placed it through repeatedly longer break in running times to allow moving parts to "seat" themselves. The compressor performs well. The pressure regulator could be better built, it appears cheap. The air intake filter leaves a little to be desired as it is a mesh screen that definitely will not keep out dust particles. I usually rig compressors with a remote filter on a hose to pick up clean, cooler air away from the machine and made one for this unit with a better filter to increase the life of the compressor. I had to remove and modify the plastic shroud around the compressor head to permit this installation. The compressor delivers the stated 150 PSI. Excellent performance for the price.

This compressor works great for what I needed. Starts right up every time. I use it with a 100ft hose to operate a pneumatic steel post driver and it works great for that. I set it in the back of my Polaris Ranger and just drive along the fence line. Perfect fence building setup for an old guy. I would have given it 5 stars but I saw it went on sale for 100 bucks or so less a week or so after I bought it and it would have been nice if they would have said it was going on sale in a few days.Update...it worked great the first time but stopped making air the second time I tried to use it. Called the support number and they just told me to take it to a service center 80 miles away. They even suggested that I tear it apart myself and see if I could figure out what's wrong. Had to order a different compressor or lose several days work. Not impressed now. I'm out about 700 bucks and own a broken compressor. Service sucks.

Tank bleed off valves are in an awkward location and can be damaged easily. Other than that excellent compressor. Easy to maneuver, light-weight, easy start. Performs better than expected. Definitely recommend this item especially for field work.

I use fuel with out without ethynol,ethanol, starts immediately, no problem,mine is 3 years old

This compressor does what it promises but the question is for how long. Once in a while around the home should be just fine. As long as you use ethanol free gas and put a fuel shut off on the line to run the carb dry there should never be any issues in a residential setting. It should not be used in a professional environment other than occasionally. The engine is the residential grade GS line of Honda and not the industrial GX. Its rated for 250 hours. The actual air compressor pump is not serviceable. Parts diagrams list the pump and engine as being a single part number. There is no replacement piston to purchase if it wears out. If something goes wrong with either the pump or engine, well...you can't easily separate one from the other. So basically this is a throw away compressor.

I've been using this air compressor about an hour +/- a day 2-3 times a week for about 4 months now and I have been vary pleased with it so far the Honda engine starts on the first pull every time which can't be said for my other one made by DeWalt with a Subaru engine.
