Tiger Eye Distortion - Solid build, classic sounds
This review is for the G001 Tiger Eye Distortion. (I have to mention that because Amazon smashes all of the G series pedals together, making the overall star rating kind of irrelevant). I've been in and out of trying the various budget pedals made in China for the past decade or so, and I think the build quality of this G line, relative to the price, is the best we've seen yet. Rock-solid metal enclosure with some heft to it. Slightly wider than the micro-sized (Mooer) pedals, but it also sits low and flat. This makes it extremely stable when stepped on, as opposed to the micro series pedals, which only really function if they are affixed to a board. The knobs are metal with a grooved texture to them and very easy to read with the white indicator arrow. The pots have a nice resistance to them. If I were to nitpick here, the knobs seem a little easier to slide off the shaft of the pots than they should, so it could be a concern with them falling off during use or rough storage. One other small gripe - some people have complained that the brightness of the blue LED indicator blinds their view of the controls on a dark stage. I can live with that, but they've also decided to make the power jack glow blue when plugged in and some of that light bleeds through to the LED indicator. I wonder if some people might actually mistake the pedal as being "on" in a dark setting due to this.I went with the Tiger Eye Distortion because I was looking for another classic rock, Marshall-like distortion option, and this one is in the $35 to $40 range. Interestingly, about half of the G series (mostly the delays, verbs, and modulation) are about twice that price, which would make them harder to recommend. I think the build quality lives up to that higher price, but you start to get closer to more established options for that money. The Tiger Eye is crisp and expressive. My one concern going in was whether it would have sufficient low end. There isn't really a "bass" control, per se, as you have a knob for treble and a knob for "Lo Mid". I thought I had read that turning this up actually "increases mids", but Caline's own product page just says that it affects the "range of bass presence". In my use of it, it seems to get darker and a little bassier, probably just because a specific frequency in the low-mids is being boosted, which competes with the other frequencies. Suffice it to say, however, that I really like the tone controls and the general voicing of the pedal. As for the gain range - it's definitely a drive pedal, and not really meant to be a "one-size-fits-all" solution. However, while it does offer much with the gain knob at zero, I found useful settings all the way from 9:00 to full-on. On the lower gain settings, it offers a nice crunch, and I appreciated that it did not get too muffled or wooly as you turned it to the higher gain settings. I would compare the gain range and use case to something like a BOSS DS-1 or ProCo RAT. While those are classic options, both of them tend to get a little fuzzy on the higher gain settings, whereas the Tiger Eye is more articulate. Similarly, I think the "Lo Mid" control makes a lot of sense, since boosting the lowest bass frequencies would significantly muddy up the higher gain tones. Nothing on this pedal is re-inventing the wheel, but for under $40, it's actually a very well-thought-out design, and you have to place that in an environment where even the most basic pedals from the larger manufacturers are closer to $100.

Hell yes.
Billy Gibbons chonk, overdriven blown out amp, loud and wailing. This pedal really punches way above its weight. The bottom end eq knob, the gain knob - it absolutely helps you dial in the sweet gronk. I had my doubts but when I plugged it in? Angels called out to me with halos of gold and skranks of brrrr. This is the right pedal for you. I promise. Or my name isn’t Colonel Tom Parker. But that’s beside the point.I like this pedal is what I’m saying.

Maxed out, great for stacking.
it does exactly what it's said to do. It isn't a super fancy or unique sound. Maxed it out on my chain to hear anything substantial, and got a LOT of dirty crunch mids that really just felt like it was further pushing the natural sound of my guitar to the amp a little more. But, stacked with OTHER pedals, specifically a good boost or another distortion, (in my case, the Gokko Salem Boost and the Ibanez Super Metal), WOW. I can dial in my own unique tone. Also pairs pretty well with a Boss SD-1, but not my preferred sound. I'll definitely be giving more Caline products a go. The fuzz has my eye, and the power supplies are next on the list.

Love the growl!!!!
So at first I was not really sure if I would be writing a good review. The first Nasty Bear Fuzz Amazon sent was DOA nothing. So they sent me a replacement and boy I am enjoying it. It has helped get that growling blues tone I been wanting. It really drives the tubes in my amp crazy. It’s also freaking loud usually my guitar volume sits around a 6-7 so I don’t wake up the neighborhood. With this pedal I’m turning down to 3-4 just so I might be able to keep my own hearing for few more years. It really does give that boost I need to cut through the sound for my solos. I’m very impressed with the sustain and the fuzziness of the tone. I would definitely recommend plus the biggest seller for me of this pedal was the graphics on it they are so cool. I bought well yes because of the graphics but I have a sun fuzz pedal kit that I need to build but I’m very impatient and wanted a cheap fuzz pedal to play with so I can build my own. This one hit the mark it’s sturdy, compact and just so nice to use. Only drawback now is I think I need a to spend more money on some pedals. I think a compressor pedal and a noise gate pedal needs to be added to my signal now. The fuzz pedal does produce a hiss/growl sound when not playing fast solos so I think s noise gate will clean up the signal some. I do recommend these inexpensive mini pedals cool graphics won’t break the bank and leaves some room on a pedalboard.

Just not good sounding
I sent it back for a refund within an hour of delivery. When engaged, it changes the fundamental tone of the guitar and not in a good way. It sounds thinner and tinnier. Since there’s no tone control, you can’t adjust this. When running any distortion into it, there is a high frequency swishing sound like nothing I get from other vibrato pedals. I’ve tried maybe 3 or 4 other vibrato pedals, for reference, and none of them make the unpleasant noises this one does, no matter how you adjust it. You can’t seem to get just a clean, transparent vibrato tone out of it. On the plus side, it seems solidly built and the foot switch felt great. The pointers on the knobs are a bit hard to see. If you happen to like how it sounds, great, but it was not for me.

Great boost
This is a great boost. It does go into distortion with high gain setting, but will add a nice boost with the gain down lower. Give it a tey for the money!

Product came damaged
Unfortunately my orca chorus pedal came in damaged looks as if the box was cut, there is also damage on the pedal itself and it doesn’t seem to work properly. I was super excited for this one and I have multiple other Caline pedals that I love but I believe this one was a returned unit that they re-sold to me as new. Pretty upset honestly.

Loads of Sustain
Product content online (YouTube etc) very accurate and helpful in my purchase. I like the pedal and the sustain is quite amazing. Although it's a compressor pedal the noise floor at higher settings was more than I expected. However, fine tuning Caline Python settings will reduce the noise depending on the pedals that follow in the chain and the settings of those pedals
