Very effective and versatile evaporative cooler.
I run an evap cooler on my house until about July 4 (I live in Phoenix :|) then I run the expensive AC. I wanted something to keep me cool wherever I was working or relaxing in the house while running the AC. This does the job! Since the AC dries out the air, adding some moisture with the Frigidaire portable evap cooler is perfect. Even on the fan high setting the sound is not disturbing when placed a few feet from me. The cooling pad is large (5" x 18") and provides adequate water flow for cooling. The tower rolls very nicely over wood and cement floors, but not rugs (and I assume carpets, but I don't have any:)) I really like the dual air diverters: one cycles back and forth, the other up and down; both independently. With either the top panel buttons or the remote I can stop the diverters at any point to get a constant air flow in my direction. And the timer is nice if I put the Frigidaire portable evap in my bedroom at night. The first night I did not use the timer and I had to get up in the middle of the night to turn it off - too cold. It comes with two gel packs to freeze. I keep on in the freezer and the other in the reservoir. Then when I need to fill the reservoir I just swap the gel packs. Very nice evap cooler for small or close areas.

Expensive Fan
Not work as expected in my zone at north CA where the humidity is 40-50% and my room temperature is 88F during heatwave. With the evaporation fan the temperature is only 2F less than 88F. So it is just an expensive fan and the design of air flow is a failure. The bladeless fan is a joke because it doesn't completely move air from the back where the water flows through honeycomb structure that supposedly can cool down airflow, but it also sucks air from front left side because the bladeless fan is just a big rotating cylinder. Comparing to my another smaller desktop evaporation fan, it has a fan that blows the honeycomb structure in the front and so that I can feel the air is cooler. It's a waste of the large honeycomb structure and water flow, but the air movement doesn't make evaporation fully work to cool

It works, but...
It works, but if I'd had a chance to try one first, I doubt I'd have spent that kind of money to buy one. It was the our record-breaking heatwave that convinced me to give it a try. It's more attractive than a box fan, but not as good at blowing air, and is more eco-friendly than and A/C unit, but won't cool your room. It'll make it more humid, but to actually get any cooling relief, you need to sit in a chair that's within 8ft of the unit and have it pointed directly at you. Similarly, you can move it close to your bed if you want a cool nights sleep, but again - don't expect it to cool the entire room. Also, the vertical oscillation works pretty good, but horizontally it's not very effective, as the unit is stationary and just has these long, skinny internal "fins" that rotate from side-to-side and don't really accomplish much. Given the vertical shape of the device, they really need to engineer it to swivel for better effect.

They work better than expected (pnw)
These work surprisingly well for our bedrooms. They last about 9 hours with a gallon and a half of water and the ice packs do help. We bought extra packs and put in two at a time. It's kept all our bedrooms at about 74 degrees when it's in the mid 90s outside. You do need to leave a window cracked so it doesn't feel muggy but that's minor. Also again, check to make sure you are in an area that an evaporative cooler works. It's 95° outside but only 42% humidity.

Good Little Air Cooler
Not amazing, but descent value if your landlord won't let you have an air conditioner. The up and down plus side to side air flow is good. Really an air cooler for one person only and you need it pointing at you. But descent.

If You’re Hot Don’t Buy
We were experiencing a second heatwave in California last year and so to save myself and my family from causing water damage to our hardwood floors from all of our sweat I broke down and bought this fan as it was mentioned in my County’s news thread about the heatwave. Anyhow, it arrived and we never felt hotter — the air it blew out was humid moisture.I consider myself an electronics guy but I chalked this up to continuous user error… I just couldn’t get it to cool the room no matter how much water and ice packs we put in the reservoir. Fast forward to today, it stopped working and we aren’t exactly sure why.All that to say, if you’re in need of a product that actually cools the room, this isn’t the move. But if you’d like sitting directly in front of the fam for maximum cooling, this may be useful albeit an expensive way to make it happen

DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM if you want customer service
I purchased a Frigidaire cooler end of May, 2022 and the pump recently quit working. i did the troubleshooting online and came to this conclusion from many sources. The product information (manual and tag on device) clearly states for service to contact Newair.com.Newair says they cannot provide a pump. Newair said to contact Frigidaire.Frigidaire says they cannot provide a pump. Frigidaire says contact Amazon.Well, it is not Amazon's problem, but I did call them. I did not expect any help but the customer service rep was sympathetic at least.DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM if you expect to keep using it or to get any type of customer support. I now have a $200 piece of plastic unless I can locate a 2nd party pump somewhere.
