Trusted brand, trusted winter companion!
So recently I was checking out a few heaters for my bedroom as a small space heater for a winter companion. Bought an infrared heater a while back, which I gave a good review to despite many reviewers claiming they stop working after a while - mine has not stopped working, but I wanted something that heats the room a little faster so I decided to get this little Russell Hobbs retro style fan heater.A few reasons for buying this over my last heater are that it's a trusted brand, nice retro style and vibe, and safety and fan heating. So what do we have here - well this is a Russell Hobbs 750w to 1500w fan heater. It's a stylish, very compact, small powerful fan heater. If you're wondering what this little machine can heat, well be in no doubt despite its size it will heat a small to medium sized room fairly easy on the lowest setting. For larger spaces, for example a large living room, you're probably going to need the 1500w maximum setting which can be fairly expensive to run for hours. When you first unbox this little heater you might notice a loud rattling noise when you move it - don't be alarmed, this is completely normal and it's just the tip over safety mechanism that you hear.As I've said in my previous review for another heater, we now have the UK energy saving scheme in place which is reducing the unit cost of electricity by about 17p to 19p leaving most people's average unit cost per hour around 22p to 25p. Mine is currently 22p per 1,000w an hour. A unit of electricity is defined as 1,000w (often abbreviated as 1kWh: Kilowatt-hour). So for example, using this heater for an hour at its lowest setting (750w) will sting around 16p per hour based on a unit rate of 22p.A lot of people often wonder how do the non-digital thermostats on these electric heaters work. Let me a do a little explaining as no matter what brand you have, it's probably the same functionality as the thermostat on this heater. Firstly get one thing straight, they're NOT precise. To effectively use the thermostat the idea is, first turn on your heater, turn the thermostat to maximum and let it heat the room. When you feel you have a desired temperature which you're comfortable with, slowly turn down the thermostat until it clicks off. In theory this now means the heater will keep the room roughly around that temperature. Do note, that if the heat output on lowest setting is not enough to achieve desired temperature, the heater will not go off. Now being honest, none of the non-digital thermostats on electric heaters, at least ones under £100 are that great but they do work. In my findings, with this heater in a small bedroom with the thermostat turned a quarter of the way up, on average, the heater came on every 15-20 minutes and stayed off for roughly the same time.So is this heater right for you? Let's digest what I've said above but also take into account fan heaters heat the air - so this heating is very fast, instant even, but if your home isn't well insulated this heat can quickly dissipate when then they're turned off. An infrared (Halogen) heater works by heating objects including your body via infrared waves - the heat from these heaters are more natural and likely to keep things warmer for longer, than a fan heater, even when turned off.The costs can vary to run electric heaters -as spoken about above- no matter what type they are but if you're using a space heater, pay attention to how many watts it burns at lowest and at highest since that will determine its running cost. If you're looking to save money, always go for something below 1,000watts minimum, but of course this varies by the size of your room - it's pointless to buy something with an output too low to even heat the room you're buying it for. Generally speaking, a heater using 500watts to 800watts isn't going to be too bad over the long run for your electric bill, but when they push up to 2kWh or 3kWh then you need to start thinking of saving as those will get expensive over a long period. To sum it up for this little heater - perfect for small to medium spaces, has decent safety protection measures, and the style of it. It looks fabulous and will keep you in nice warmth throughout the winter months.Fantastic heater overall.Edited for typos.

heats a small room quite well
Has a rather short cable (about 1m) which can limit its use unless you have an extension cable. Can rattle a bit sometimes but this stops after it heats up. Only really useful at its highest settings, Im not sure the lower heat settings are that effectual unless you sit very close to it. Can blow cool air like a fan if you need it to. Looks very nice. Im pleased with the look. Easy to operate. Overall pretty good and good for heating a bedroom. Can pick heater up and handle it after it has been on for some time without getting burnt as the plastic body remains cool. Light and easy to move if you want to take it to work with you.

So cute and powerful
I love this little retro heater. Looks like a miniature retro television. Blasts out heat as and when required. Love the colours. Bargain for the price.

I use it with plug in thermostat
Absolutely brilliant little heater. I now have 3. For larger rooms I use a 2nd, just because 1.5kw isn't quite enough when it is near freezing outside (in the living room). But I have relied on these as back up heaters. Have used non-fan convection radiators and oil radiators. The russell hobbs ones are surprisingly effecient vs the oil radiators. Used it year round, and now past its 2 year gaurentee period and still going strong. (the generic chinese convection radiator that I used was dangerous and began to burn the wall plug before I fortunately noticed). Recommend these little Russel Hobbs retro fan heaters. The only downside is that it is a fan - so will create a hum, but it isn't that bad. I also recommend using a thermostat plug as the dial on fan heaters are never reliable. Big plus sides are reliability which I trust, portability, & instant heat.

Looks great but dud for reliability
Purchased October 2021, kept in box ready for a holiday to the cold Australian South Coast in March 2022.(given we have 40 plus Celsius days over summer obvious now need to use.)Lasted one hour before complete failure.Asked for a return but nil response on that request.Id say based on my first hand experience is that its a dud.
