Update: tried these again with chocolateand they worked great! Just pop in the freezer and you too can have Oompa Loompas (don't worry, I trimmed their arms. The actual mold proportions are more average scale. The molds were as described: hard plastic. They are completely rigid and have zero flexibility for ease of removal. I used a blend of fondant and gumpaste to mold the torso and arms for the mermaid. It would be impossible to remove any material that doesn't dry hard. I greased the molds with vegetable shortening dusted with a light later of cornstarch before filling them to increase the likelihood that they would lift out without sticking. It's impossible to fill the mold exactly, so I had some trimming to do after letting the gumpaste/fondant harden for 2 days. I used a silicone mold I purchased separately for the head as I didn't find the head from this set especially attractive.I wish a similar item would have been available as a silicone mold so I could have molded this in chocolate instead, but this was the only option I could find.I'm reasonably satisfied with these for the price I paid and will probably use them again in the future.

Granted I used a different head mold for this one because I had to make it look like my customer, but the body molds do work, they help me a lot, I’m a perfectionist and doing it by hand takes me days. I sell my toppers on Etsy and often don’t have days to make sure the legs are perfect lol. These come in handy.

These are perfect! I bought them in order to use them for playdoh. They work like a charm. I imagine they would work just as well for cake! They took a while to ship, but I am patient, and I love these to death!! The perfect people each time!! Clean out the moulds after each use, and it does help to sprinkle a bit of talc or baby powder on them in order to keep the playdoh from sticking.I usually put a small ball in, press, and check. If it's not down enough or cracks... I add another small ball. I continue to do this until I fill it up. It's a really fun way to make some people out of playdoh. I don't know if it would work for other clays, but it does work for playdoh and your kids will have a blast!!

It took a few tries to get the sculpy clay out of the mold without distorting the shape. Sprinkling baby powder helped with sculpy clay, but just dusting the mold and shaking off the access allowed the details of the mold in the clay. I would suggest putting in wire between and in the pieces to hold them together and hold their shape.

Prefer this to silicone mold

I saw someone wrote you can use these with resin. No. You can’t. I don’t know how they thought that was possible. Even with playdoh or clay it’s really difficult to remove without warping the figure. Too hard of plastic with no bend.Pretty sturdy, hopefully a plus for making cake decorations?

Love that it comes in different sizes and you can mix and match body parts. Tip: put wires on one side before you close the mold up. I did have to make a few attempts to get the faces right so as not to include lines or air bubbles. Some shaping is required once the whole mold is put together to smooth out the seams.
