If the boards are laminate then I have not cut any of those so can't comment on whether the hard top surface will chip like it does with a hand saw. I can confirm that this mitre has done everything I have asked, from installing Vinyl (LVT) flooring, under staircase storage, lounge and dining room cabinets and some garden storage - (currently using it to build an outside garden office). It has survived and excelled at all of this so far. I haven't had a moment when I have thought to myself, "ah, if only I had this".
