I would also take many hours to get the freezer down to -10 degrees, when the temperature really only needs to go to about 0. I priced the replacement thermostat and it was $176. So instead of replacing the existing thermostat, I rewired the freezer to use this electronic thermostat. I basically just cut the freezer power cord and used this electronic thermostat as an on/off switch. I drilled a small hole in the bottom of the freezer to bring the temperature sensor (included) into the freezer, and used caulk to seal the hole around the sensor wire. I wire tied the sensor to the middle food rack. I left the old thermostat in place, and turned it to full cold so it would always be "on". So It should be able to hold temp in the 211-213 oF range. I don't know if that would be a constant boil or not but it would be close. **Q: can I put the whole sensor in the water tank to control the tempurature?** A: No **Q: Does this unit can use another type of probe? What type of probe uses?** A: What "type" are you referring? This control uses a resistance type sensor, electrical interference may affect sensor signals. when extending the connected wire a shielded type wire is recommended. and increasing the gauge is also recommended.
