5 Stars – Outstanding Smart Doorbell for the Price!I live in San Antonio, TX, and recently installed the TP-Link Tapo doorbell camera—and I have to say, this thing is fantastic. The installation was incredibly easy, and the setup through the Tapo app was quick and smooth. Within minutes, it was up and running, and it's been flawless ever since.The video quality is sharp, motion alerts are accurate, and I really appreciate the two-way talk feature—it works great. One of the biggest perks for me is being able to customize the notification sound through my Samsung phone, which helps me instantly know when someone is at my door.I feel much more secure knowing I can monitor my front door anytime, whether I’m home or away. For the price, this smart doorbell offers premium performance and reliability. If you’re looking for a user-friendly, dependable doorbell camera, this is the one. Highly recommend!

Exactly what I was looking for, and from a brand I can trust. Easy setup, no extra subscriptions, great looking aesthetics, superior camera quality, fast 2 way communication from camera to phone backed by an excellent app (Tapo) to pull it all together. Could not recommend more 10/10!

I recently upgraded to the TP-Link Tapo D225 Smart Video Doorbell, and I'm genuinely impressed by its performance—especially since it doesn't require a subscription. The 2K resolution and 180-degree field of view provide clear, comprehensive coverage of my front porch. I store the recording to a microSD card, which offers peace of mind without any having fees associated with subscription services unlike other brands. The AI-powered motion detection identifies people, vehicles, and pets, but needs work as a person can show up as all 3 tags. While the device is slightly bulkier than some alternatives, it does support existing mechanical chimes, the included plug-in chime works well and is easy to customize. You just have to turn on one with a transformer hardwired in to it.

I’ve tried several brands of cameras and doorbell cameras, and this TAPO is the best kept secret. Half the cost of other major brands, no subscription required, can format a microSD to record locally. Battery life so far has been great, will last around 8-10 weeks on a single charge. It also has great physical security features so it locks into the mount. It even has a little security alarm you can arm that will alert you if the camera is removed. Rings phone when doorbell is pressed too. 2k resolution if you want, but the 360p is super crisp with the lens they have in it. Honestly don’t know why this doorbell isn’t top of the list! Highly recommend.Update after 1 month: Battery life at 80% still! This camera may only need to be charged a few times a year at this rate. It is recording 20+ clips a day.

Security with no subscription 🤔 I can say I’m pleasantly surprised. I wasn’t expecting the size of it. The install instructions were a bit confusing; I wired it into my door bell. Which was easier than the instructions made it seem. Connectivity was pretty straight forward & easy. Picture quality is pretty clear, as well as at night. Quality of the camera is pretty sturdy, which explains the bulkiness. So far worth the buy, I have the 30 day free trial but will be installing local storage in the near future.

So far the camera is working really well. Set up was easy and camera function with sensing people and such is spot on. I would refer this to other people for sure.

The D225 4mp QHD camera is outstanding. The software has all the bells and whistles ;-) and is very customizable. However, the biggest highlights are the image, audio, pet/vehicle/package/person detection quality with unlimited zone masking (you can add multiple zones per detection type). It has unlimited power options as well... powered by battery, existing door bell hardwired AC, or both (maintaining full battery as an AC power grid down fail over). It just works and is easy to setup.The D230 is a similar camera, but instead 160 degree camera/5mp instead of the D225's 180 degree camera/4mp. I prefer 160 degree, but the 180 degree works well and some people will need the fuller 180 degree coverage. Both are great.Install Tip!!!Initially, I found that connectivity to the doorbell camera was inconsistent, which I thought it might have been my WIFI signal, but instead, it ended up being that my existing doorbell 16Volt AC - 10 Amp transformer did not appear to have quite enough power. It was replaced with a 16Volt AC - 20 Amp transformer and it now works perfectly.

I bought this product for security for a vacant property of mine. I am not able to get to the property often enough to maintain security and I was impressed with a previous purchase from this company, so I tried it and a smart deadbolt out and they work great! I have ran a series of tests simulating power outages, wifi going offline, etc., and they seem to be really low maintenance. The doorbell does not require a subscription for their cloud storage. It's camera records directly to a SD card and can be viewed and downloaded straight to your phone through their app. The app is simple to use and has many settings and features that allow you to taylor how/when you want the product to work. TP-Link has many other security and smart home products that I may add and their app allows you to control all of them with the 1 app. I like this company's products, and will probably buy more.
