Review: Help is on the way - Product is easy to use and meets high standards of purity. It is reasonably priced and is really helpful for cats who do not cooperate with a more comprehensive kidney control diet. The product is not the gold standard of care, but can be a clear help.
Review: There are very few products I'm genuinely passionate about, and this is one of them - There are very few products I'm genuinely passionate about, and this is one of them. My senior boy just turned 20 years old! ❤️ He was diagnosed with CKD about two years ago, and he's still with us today. I believe we caught it relatively early, and soon after his diagnosis, I began sprinkling Epakitin on all of his food, both kibble and wet food. I also started adding extra purified RO water to his wet food and administering subcutaneous fluids every other day. I've been giving him a microdose of Mirataz every morning for the past couple of years as well, to help maintain his appetite. After I started him on Epakitin, I noticed a significant improvement in his digestion. He used to vomit multiple times a day, but afterward, that decreased to roughly once every few days. His bowel movements also became much healthier. He went from having long-term diarrhea to producing solid, normal stools. Of course, I believe it's been a combination of everything — the Epakitin, subcutaneous fluids, Mirataz, and higher-quality wet food and kibble — that has helped keep him going these past couple of years. But I have no doubt that Epakitin has played a major role in reducing how often he vomits after eating. In my experience, it seems to help him tolerate his food better while also helping manage the phosphorus in his diet. I don't know how much longer he'll be with us, as his blood tests show that his CKD is unfortunately continuing to progress. But I truly feel that Epakitin has helped give him a much better quality of life, and I believe it has been an important part of his care. I think it's one of the reasons he's still here with us today, and I'm incredibly grateful that I've gotten this extra time with my boy. ❤️

## Questions & Answers

**Q: how long does it take for epakitin to begin working ....days, weeks?**
A: After being released from 4 days of hospitalization for acute renal failure, my cat became symptom-free and flourished (still flourishing) after 10 days of adding small amounts of Epakitin in her wet cat food. twice a day.

**Q: If a low phosphorus diet is prescribed, why does this product contain phosphorus?**
A: Epakitin is made from shellfish shells and they naturally contain phosphorus. The tiny amount of phosphorus in Epakitin is negligible. It's only eight ten-thousandths of one per cent or 0.0000008 gram phosphorus to 0.999992 gram of all the other ingredients in a one-gram dose. 0.0000008 + 0.999992 = 0.9999928, or (rounding up) 1 gram.

**Q: My cat refuses wet food, dry only - how can I administer these granules? Wish it was a pill.**
A: It has been a long time since we needed this powder. I believe you could mist the dry food with water or chicken broth to get the powder to stick to the dry food. We had to try quite a variety of wet foods before we found some that our cat would eat. Good luck.

**Q: I'm having a terrible time getting my cat to eat her medicated food. She dos not like the taste! Do any of you dose your cats with regular cat food?**
A: My cat with kidney disease never would eat the medicated renal diet. She had eaten mostly dry food and wouldn't eat moist kidney foods. But she happily took Fancy Feast broths and Hartz Delectables pouches. We give her one of each and put one capsule of AminAvast powder and one scoop of Epakitin powder in both times. She started out in stage 3 renal failure but her labs have slightly improved and have not worsened at all over 1.5 years, and she seems to feel quite well.
