It works perfectly
I read the mixed reviews on this before buying and hesitated for some time but the concept is so cool that I had to get it.I am absolutely estatic that I finally pulled the trigger. The door chime requires some careful thought and positioning but mine works perfect. 100% of the time it is both accurate as I pass through the door and it never EVER misses. It's platic and the switch on the intercom could have been done better but for the pricepoint it's a great score and add to my Star Trek collection. The sound effects are great and this is something all Star Trek TOS fans should have.

It’s awesome and surprisingly useful
The sound is surprisingly loud on it and it is frequently used as an indoor doorbell to gain clearance to enter the captain’s cabin…I mean my bedroom…

Perfect gift
ANY Star Trek fan would adore this as a gift. The motion detection is perfect, any time someone walks past my doorway I get the nostalgic sound of TOS doors swooping open. There's also a button to press that has different quotes from the show. It's easy to install really adds a sci-fi touch to my Star Trek themed office. I've had it for a few months and haven't had to change the batteries yet.

You bet you sweet bippy it is
Is this cheesy and perhaps a bit on the cheap side. You bet you sweet bippy it is. It's also a ton of fun. If you are a Star Trek fan, and you have an office door, you need to get one of these for it.I have had this up for a few days now, and it makes me smile every time somebody comes in. It is a little louder than I would like, even on the softer setting. I was pleasantly surprised just how well it works. I feared the door trim would be an issue, but, it turns out not to be a problem at all.One problem...if somebody leans into your office to talk, it will go off continuously every few seconds.

CUTE for the TREKY
Got this for our son at Christmas. He mounted it at the end of his entrance hallway. He says it makes him giggle every time he walks past it! Good quality but a bit on the pricey side. Well worth it though for the Trekkie in your life! Super cute. Would recommend

Fabulous toy. I really enjoy the working nostalgia of it.
I love this device. it activates as soon as someone walks through the door. It can be set to activate with either the Klaxon (red alert sound) or the swish of the door opening.I believe the price is a bit high though but then again you end up paying for what it is rather than what it does or how well it is made.**Note** I really wanted a working one of these. I first purchased one from a different seller and the item came broken. I replaced it with the same seller and the second one was broken. This time I decided to purchase from ThinkGeek instead and it worked great.

Star Trek Intercom Panel
There are a lot of reviews on this product that cover the functions of this item, so there really isn't any need to cover it again. I will tell you about my own personal experience with it. I ordered it in July of 2013 and it arrived within a few days. I also purchased the Geological Tricorder to complete the set of the other two tricorders that I own (medical and Science).I was impressed with the unit and from reading other comments, the unit is smaller than the one used on the show but it is still impressive. While I would have liked to have had the opaque lens light up, with a little work it is possible to do so.My biggest complaint is that when I received it, put in the batteries and tried it out.... it was dead... It did nothing. I work in Electronics and rather than sending the unit back, I removed the rear screws and took a look inside. Right away, I knew what the problem was. There should be (2) wires (red & black) running from the battery compartment to the printed circuit board. Only the red wire was connected. The black wire had broken away from its solder joint. So, I resoldered the black wire and the unit now works as it should. I also noticed that the speaker was sitting loose within a plastic ring which was part of the case. I put some clear silicone sealant at points around the speaker to keep it in place.Overall, the unit is typical of what you would find in a cheap product made in China. The sound is very good and very loud in the high volume setting. The motion detectors work well and I am happy to have this as another part in my Star Trek collection.

Perfect for the Original Series fan with the sounds you'll expect by the description.
Perfect and made for every fan of the original series. It has all sounds of the communicator that was on the wall at the side of the doors of the cabins. It uses 3 x AA batteries. It has2 sensors on each side (left and right) to detect motion when someone passes over the door. You can select if you want to detect motion on both sides, just left or just right. There are 3 modes of motion detection moving the white bar besides the speaker.First mode is up, and it makes the sound of the opening doors of the Enterprise each time the device detects motion.Second mode is on the middle and it makes no sound there.Third mode is down and it makes the sound of Red Alert of the Enterprise (classic series not the movies sound) and it lights the red led on the upper right side. Finally the white button on the right bottom part of the device makes the sound of the hailing communication of the ship.As i said, is perfect for a Star Trek fan.The rest of the people wouldn't understand the sounds of it so they wouldn't enjoy it as a fan.PD: I would just loved it they also included a message from Spock or Uhura or someone telling you "Please report to the Bridge" but that was asking too much, for the price is just excellent.
