## Description

Aqara Wireless Mini Switch, Zigbee Connection | Versatile 3-Way Control Button for Smart Home Devices, Requires AQARA HUB, Compatible with Apple HomeKit, IFTTT : desertcart.co.uk: DIY & Tools

Review: Small button. Big “why didn’t I buy this sooner” energy. - The Aqara Wireless Mini Switch might look like a simple little button, but in a smart home it’s basically a magic wand. Setup – quick and painless Added straight into my Aqara Hub M3 and it paired in seconds. No faffing about, no mysterious error codes, no standing on one leg while rebooting the hub. It just joined and got on with it. What it actually does This isn’t just a doorbell-style button. You get multiple actions: 👆 Single press 👆👆 Double press ⏱ Long press Each one can trigger a different automation. In my house that means lights, scenes, and other smart devices all firing off from one tiny button. It’s like a physical shortcut key for real life. Reliability So far it’s been rock solid. Press the button → stuff happens. Every time. No delays, no “device not responding,” no smart-home sulking. Battery life is great too — it sips power, so you’re not constantly changing cells. Why this is better than voice sometimes Voice control is great… until: – The TV is loud – You’ve lost your voice – You don’t want to shout commands like a wizard casting spells This little switch is instant, silent, and guest-friendly. Visitors actually understand “press this button” without a tutorial. Build & size Nice and compact, feels well made, and you can stick it pretty much anywhere. Wall, bedside table, desk — it just blends in. Verdict One of the most useful smart home gadgets I own. Cheap, reliable, and ridiculously versatile. I bought one to “try it out.” I now have several. They multiply. No regrets.
Review: Works Great with Home Assistant & ConBee II - I have a number of Smart Home items - all lighting is Philips Hue using a ZigBee network and a Philips Hue Hub, and other sensors (temp, humidity, lighting levels, door & window sensors, smart sockets etc) use the WiFi network. All of this runs via Home Assistant on a Raspberry Pi 4. I needed a simple way of toggling some items on or off without asking Alexa to do it. After much research, I came across this small button. I went with ZigBee, rather than a WiFi-based solution as ZigBee is supposed to be more power efficient, and provide greater battery longevity and I had a ConBee II USB stick on the Raspberry Pi which could pick up the ZigBee network. It is straightforward to set up in Home Assistant. I installed ZHA integration first (it will work with DeConz and Zigbee2MQTT too) and then I just removed the small, plastic insulating tab from the mini-switch which enabled the battery to connect. A long press on the small reset switch on the top of the unit whilst the ZHA integration in Home Assistant was scanning and it popped up on my screen in about a second. I saved the settings, and then it was a simple case of adding automation in HA to allow it to do what I wanted. HA also shows the battery level as a percentage too - handy!! I only set up a simple toggle on/off to operate a remote smart plug. It appears (in HA at any rate) that there are three modes of operation which can be recognised and assigned. 1. Single press - working great 2. Quick double-press - not tried 3. Long press - not tried The flexibility of use within HA is down to the imagination of the user. So far (a couple of days in) I am impressed with this little switch. It is quite unobtrusive, and a useful addition to a smart home set-up that requires simple control functions. Would I buy another one?? Yes, without question, if and when the need arises, and from my experience of Home Assistant it is probably easier to set up than the similarly priced TRADFRI ZigBee-based, shortcut button from IKEA.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: does this work with Eero pro wifi 6 with zigbee?**
A: I can confirm, I use it with sonoff ZigBee dongle on HomeAssistant with Zigbee2mqtt works like magic. I previously had noname ZigBee dongle, worked too.

**Q: Does this work with ring 2gen**
A: No, it will not work with Ring. An Aqara Hub is required.

**Q: Need a replacement sticky pad for these. Any ideas please?**
A: Use 3M/Scotch Restickable Pads as these can be easily removed without residue, washed and reused many times.

**Q: Can't see the button on the HomeKit app- can anyone list a step by step guide?**
A: Go to “Other” under the room(location) you have added the “button”

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 100% recommendation
*by J***N on 7 October 2025*

I use this as my door bell and it functions well as that, it connects to my aqara cameras to play the sound via a feature called automations in the aqara app, I have it set up to play a doorbell sound on all my aqara cameras. It’s very easy to install and looks modern. I’m happy to say there has been no connectivity issues in the months I’ve used the aqara ecosystem.
